Agreed, 100%. If people are so concerned about the renters actually getting shot with a paintball (TEH HORRORZ), then why do they even play with renters?

Those "corporate team-building douchebags" and birthday crowd are the people who keep most legitimate fields in the black.

I'm aware of that, more's the pity.

Doesn't mean I have to enjoy their presence, or play paintball with them by choice. The birthday party kids hang in the back every single game, and the corporate guys treat the game like a dick measuring contest.

Exactly!
I've heard so many, "When I play at my local field I play hopper ball and leave my pod pack behind.....I play with my opposite hand.....I trade my marker with one of the renters......I let them shoot me out every once in a while....I play relaxed so they can move around more".
If you are so advanced/experienced then I fail to understand why you would even waste your time and money going to those fields. If you are that concerned with helping them then why dont you just apply for a position there? At least you would be getting paid instead of paying.

Is the selection of places for y'all to play that small that you have no other choice but to go to those places? I do not understand the logic.

I love playing with rec groups! I break out the vsc phantom, and bring my wrist harness. I bring 5 tubes, and 1 12g and it's a blast to work on my one balling. It's fun to work with new players, and it's also a time to pass out cards and flyers for upcoming scenario games, tournaments, and play dates.

Remember that these groups keep fields open, and just maybe one of these players could become a pro, a public ambassador, or something else that might help promote the sport. The more fun these groups have, the more likely they are to return. It's also way too easy to have fun with these groups as they always embellish what happens on the field, and are mega easy to coach.

Are you talking about rec groups, new players, or are you inferring that rec groups are new players?

If I may inquire, why don't you have time to work? Curious because I notice you didn't say ability or opportunity. Just "time".

All the butt-hurt woodsballers on here really make me laugh, why would I not talk **** to them? It's hilarious. Also, I don't speak French, wrong province. Learn geography.

Look at the thread title.. How could this NOT turn into a trollfest? Have a little fun with it.

I await the pithy replies from you and your boyfriend.

Youre so good, you must be pro. It must be a slow day at Tim Hortons, huh? Plenty of time for posting how much of a hero you are between brewing that moose piss?

Canada doesnt matter to anyone who matters, so why would I bother?

Honestly, I expected better from you.
I am dissapoint.

Edit: I didnt see your edit at first. after some retroactive thought, the jury is in, and you are still irrelevant.

I've never played in the woods and bushwookies makes me think about those pocket sized apes from Star Wars.

I've lived in Vegas for all 22 years of my completely glorious and outstanding life. I don't talk smack about woodsball because I really have no true personal vision of it, besides videos I've seen of people hiding behind plywood bunkers and 55 gallon drums. I was born into the paintball lifestyle behind doritos and low lying snakes. If I could make a drive out to a scenario field with bushes and trees, I would. Because I'm a ****ing warrior, and I dutifully accept that challenge. Where was this post supposed to be going..

Oh! Yea, the thing I've noticed over the several years I've been playing paintball, there seems to be a very fine line between woodsball and speedball. The spelling. Both types have the driven desire to mark an opponent, and watch them make the walk of shame out of bounds. Why can't we be friends? Because this is Sparta, *****. Run around in the shrubbery and do your thang, because we be doing the same. Except with inflatable bunkers and dedicated tape lines with closed quarters gun fights. This post was so off topic, but I'm not the only one who strayed from the original purpose of this thread. Did you know yogurt helps maintain healthy digestion?

Constantly with the, "Well if you want serious competition the enter a tournament". But rec ball is nothing more than people who play because they love the sport. No where does it say you must lack a competitive nature.

Why must everyone dial down their level of play to fit yours? Is it really because they are too intense or is it because many of you truly can't keep up?

And why is everyone's example ALWAYS one where their rec field is ALL renters, newbies and small kids??? If that's the scene at your field then WHY ARE YOU THERE????
I don’t think you can make that point often enough. Rec ball doesn’t mean “woodsball”, it doesn’t mean “no skill”, or “no challenge”. It means recreational. 99% of the paintball everyone plays is actually “rec ball”. You play speedball at your local field, unless it’s closed to the general public just for speedball practice, you are playing “rec ball”.

Speaking just from my field. If you don’t want to play against 12 bps PSP then sit out a round. We will let you “play in” or we will share the field with you if you don’t want play with us. But you can’t seriously expect our entire group to “dumb down” our entire day of playing just for a few new players. That’s not saying we won’t cut you some slack out there, we play by an unwritten rule that you don’t bunker kids or new players (like everybody else does), but we aren’t going to hold your hand or let you win either just because you are new.

If you are a new player and you are doing something stupid I will shoot you out and at the end of the game I will find you and explain what you were doing wrong that enabled me to shoot you out. I will not “take it easy on you” or “let you shoot me” just so you can feel good about yourself. I will put you out and then teach you what you did wrong so the next game I won’t shoot you out.

I feel doing this does two things for the new paintball player…
1. It helps improve their game. Having somebody let you win doesn’t help anyone. If they are making mistakes but instead of teaching them not to make those mistakes you are just letting them go all you are doing is setting thme up for failure later on as you are just enabling a bad habit they will then have to over-come.
2. It builds the paintball community as a whole because having an experienced player go over and spend some time with a new player, showing them what they did wrong and how to improve their game, makes that new player feel included and a part of the community instead of just “cannon fodder” for the experienced players.
