Campers don't bother me because I stalk and hunt them down. As a pistol player, I don't waste a lot of paint on people like some have mentioned in here. I suppose my biggest and only real gripe about rec ball is the 10 foot rule most fields have. If I'm going to eliminate a bunker with 3-5 guys in it, I can't do it saying bang bang. I need to be allowed to shoot each and every one of them. If it hurts at close range, don't camp and make me come to you.

This. The surrender rule is...a double edged sword. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. Instead of surrendering I try to shoot less painful spots and only one ball. I try for packs, vests, or the mask. I don't like shooting the gun because most noobs won't even realize.

I hate the guys that as they walk onto the field they go full blast with their electro's, all it does is cause the rentals or first timers to want to hide. Makes playing lame for both sides.

Most players, I'd say 7/10 are not disciplined enough to either aim for a specific area on a player or control their fingers. Add a big dose of adrenaline to the equation and thats why the rule is there.

Poorly maintained fields. I love deep brush and nastiness, but if even 1/4 of your bunkers have fallen and broken branches, rusty metal and other debris litter your pathways, it makes for slower, more dangerous games.

That's why I like "our" field. I, and the guys I play outlaw ball with, work at an electric company, so all those spools and pallets you see at a lot of paid rec fields we have extremely easy access and they're free. Add in the guy that owns the property has a small tractor and can move stuff (including dirt) around fairly easy, and we can modify and set it up to be pretty nice and "normal".

The first point I am in complete agreement. I have always done woodsball, But I am now doing a little speedball. I enjoy it for mixing it up. Second point is true too. Also if people are afraid of that ask the refs if you can play a semi auto only game. (I go to a semi only field) Woodsball is my favorite for lots of people. 1v1 in woodsball is sooooo boring. 1v1 speedball your playing paintball.

Yeah most outlaw fields are setup in such a way to reward camping. You will have this one solid bunker with a bunch of smaller flimsy bunkers [with holes] surrounding it, add to this the solid bunker is surrounded by downed wood to trip over, rocks, and other obstacles. There is almost no straight line to run to this particular bunker because there is a bunch of small trees blocking the way that you can't use as cover. This I believe is to keep the camper safe. Most newbies build fields that have a "safe" bunker close to the back of the field that is almost next to impossible to attack if a competent player uses it. If the woodsball field is an old forest, it becomes more naturally an aggressive field. No matter what the newbies do, they can't get rid of the big trees I use to get close to them.

Campers I can deal with like you most of the time (Cause they are normally renters) The 10 foot rule to me is fine. Only if your back is to me or I am sneaking up on you. I shoot everyone if there are more then 1 person in a bunker. The only cases that I do is scared renters who aren't doing anything. I don't expect anything different from anyone else.

My only real gripe with recball is if the renters think that you have a "fancy gun" when your using a marker the same price range. After all you suck with the worst gun you will suck with the best (Within reason.)

When I go to a field and people tell me how to chrony my gun. I have axe with boss bolt instead of adjusting the velocity on the back cap you just adjust the pressure but someone always says something

I played a big scenario game this weekend. There was a lot of "overshooting"...but sometimes I don't think people understand that quite a bit of it happens because you a shooting through brush. You shoot 10-15 balls, but you never know if all of them will break on the way through, or if magically they will all make it, or some ratio in between. I think that's important to keep in mind.

I believ I've mentioned that once or twice before lol.

Seriously though its not overshooting if the person can't tell if you are in or out. Happens a lot in woodsball because the person hit is often behind bush and not signalling if they are still in or out.
I remember shooting at this one dude through the heavy bushes. I would shot about 5 or 6 shots at him and yelled, "I dont know if these are making it through but one eventually will". His reply, "Don't worry I'll let you know".

^^^ Yeah, there was one kid who got shot several times. Poor guy (almost). He wound up getting shot by three people because everyone had a different angle on him. He kept hunkering down even more behind his bush. When he finally yelled out, he must've had 8 breaks on him. It was kind of sad...but at the same time, the shots were in short bursts...so he had all the opportunity in the world to save himself.

On a flip side, one guy and myself had a 50 ball shootout because we were both behind pretty good cover, and 30 feet apart. It really took that many before one of us got one though a hole (that we probably made) in the brush. Sad to say, I lost that shootout with a nice shot to the knuckle.

I also got shot at by my own team. He was shocked that someone had advanced that far ahead of him. I asked him why he thought I was facing the same direction at him. He just hung his head...and said sorry about 40 times.

I got shot by a guy on my team as well. Even worse...he was IN FRONT OF ME. Game just starts. I come up behind him to give him some help on the right side. Dude turns and shoots me talking about, "Oh sorry man. I thought you were from the other team". REALLY!?!?!?! The game JUST started. How the hell woould the other team get past our ENTIRE team and come up behind you in less then about 120 seconds??

Needless to say I was pissed.

Well that is just a mistake, but I would feel sorry too. One time I was in a firefight is woodsball. A kid ducked behind the bunker and I took aim around the bunker. He jumped out and he just was saying hit with his gun pointed down. I fired. I felt sooooo bad for that one cause he took it in the neck too. The overshooting I think is people who are used to paintball should in a way give some slack if they overshoot i.e renters. I went behind a 9 year old kid and mercyed him. He turn and pulled the trigger (on accident, he was that scared) I didn't shoot that time. I would of if it was a experianced player. That is the way I deal with it is if a renter overshoots I just bring it to their attention. If an experianced player overshoots I ask him why he did it. Cause if your experianced you shouldn't overshoot often or at all.

Our last event, I was following my team when they started engaging the enemy at their camp. I pushed for the angle on the side, and got all the way into their camp right next to their flag.

Just as I was moving out to run to the flag, I saw two guys coming towards me... The first guy raised his marker and aimed it at me, and I assumed they were the defenders of the flag...

I took both of them out, and ran and got the flag. And then realized they were on my team...Oops. They had run all the way around the field and come into the camp from the back, and they didn't realize I was on their team either.

I got shot out by my own team the next game, so it all evened out.

Here is the video of that game. (so certain members can whine about me posting a video on topic again...)

Some players are trained to keep shooting until there is some sort of signal that the other player is out. Experienced players usually avoid being overshot by raising their hand and walking out like they don't even care there is a hailstorm of paint. Some newbies don't call themselves out because they are afraid that they will be hit more if they rise up and walk away with their back toward the shooting. This results in them being hit 8+ more than if they just raise their hand and walk the heck out. Experienced players are used to wipers, so they keep shooting until the guy decides he is out. You can tell someone has been in a couple of tournaments if you see him slide into a bunker, then run out the opposite direction because he was shot out.

Your story reminds me of the one day I did light up a newbie. But the 12 times I hit him were in the space of 2 minutes. He never gave me a freaking signal. I fired one shot at a time 10 seconds apart. There was no way I could tell he was out until I totally exposed him in his bunker and noticed that my paint was all over him. I just stopped and stared at him, "Are you out?" His parents thought I was evil, but this was a 2 vs 8 game [one of his parents were on his team]. I picked the smallest kid who cowered in his bunker the entire game[they forced me to take one person and I picked that kid]. After that, I couldn't get my money's worth for the certified field I was playing on.

I hate that woodsball takes 15 minutes to complete and that I use so much paint in it.
