DM12 help

Alright lets see what you guys make of this:

I've got a DM12 w/ bwing bolt kit. When I dry fire the marker it has a little *chuff* noise every 4/5 shot. I've played two events with it like this. Shots are very consistent but efficiency kinda sucks. I'm getting 5-6 pods and a hopper off of a 68/45 @285fps +/- 3. I suspect the *chuffs* are air leaking past an o-ring so I change a few of those out with the ones provided in my kit. This didn't fix the issue. Occasionally the marker will start fairing what sounds like 10bps, which normally makes me think eye error however the eyes are clean and the marker doesn't break paint. I changed the battery, no help. SO while the issue is very small, I have been using DM's since 03 and this new minor issue is kinda doggin me. Thoughts? For reference the board is stock, stock settings. Hope its user error.

Change the battery again. Then try changing the bolt sail o-ring and make sure the dwell and LPR are set properly. Lastly, try rebuilding the regs.

Yea lube your regs since the gun might be starved of air. I know friends dm12 would do that and after further inspection his hpr was completely dry while his lpr was fully lubed. After lubing up the hpr the dm shot perfect without a hiccup.

Change your bolt tail orings too, the two little orange ones. I'd agree with reg cleaning, then I'd reset LPR/HPR and go from there

I think the problem resided in the LPR. I took the whole marker apart and found a couple nicks on the LPR housing o-rings. Their non dynamic o-rings so I wouldn't think that they would be an issue but that was the only problem I found. I cleaned out the entire marker head to toe and it seems to be working perfect now. Thanks guys.

Problem returned the night before our last event. I took it apart again to see if something was blocked with lube ect, cleaned and relubed the regs. Checked the battery, changed the o-rings...finally decided it might be something with the bolt can, when moving the bolt back and forth it seemed like it was getting drag from the bolt sail. I polished the inside of the can by hand, cleaned it, put it back together....now it's super smooth but still the chuffing. The bolt has some lag to it as well. LPR is set fine, checked that over and over.

Finally I lower me Dwell. 2 at a time until I get to 10, at 10 the problem is not only gone but the gun shoots incredibly smooth. I play the event, no issue, best performance out of the marker yet. So I'm crossing my fingers that my marker just wanted to shoot as a lower Dwell than normal. If anyone else runs into this LMK. I'm curious what other Techs and tinkerers have to say about this.

Part of me is wondering if this an electrical issue. I can't think of any reason that reducing the dwell would have such a drastic effect.

It crossed my mind, the board is stock, wiring is all the same as the day i got it, I may consult with Dye about it if the problem re-occurs, I aired it up again last night, still working great.

This problem came back several times over the last few events I played. For search purposes let me explain the solution. I was not able to get any new information out of the dye techs about my problem. After removing the solenoid I found that the spool had a sluggish return when you pushed it back and forth with a screw driver.

I changed the Solenoid with one from an old DM7, this fixed the issue completely and the marker now works at the normal Dwell settings. If this issue should happen to you I believe it has to do with a bad spring behind the noid spool. I'm in the process of retuning the part to DYE.
