how old are you? if your younger (ages 10-12) then sure, wear some padding. if your older than that, then yea... your a baby for wearing padding. getting hit with a paintball doesnt hurt that bad. If its a hit from up close then sure its going to sting pretty bad but the pain goes away in about a minute. suck it up and deal with it.

no it doesnt make you a wimp. rec ballers wear so little because more often than not they dont know how bad it can hurt. Hell even the pros wear padded jerseys.

You see someone on the field in that I feel you have every right to ridicule them. That's just my opinion lol

Not at all. Paintball padding is designed to protect and create bounces. If you knew how many balls bounce off my padding (chest protector, rib vest, arm pads) you'd all start wearing padding. Not to mention not feeling a thing when getting hit. Don't get me wrong, I don't always use padding. But when I am wearing padding it's a different ballgame. just my $.02

not gunna lie, if i saw a good deal for that Fox jacket, id rock it hard. Black mask, that ****, pants pack and gun... urban ninja FTW... And id wear more padding if i bought them. yes, getting is part of the game, but when I play against more experienced players with better guns, i usually wont get hit once... i get hit like 4-5 times before I realize whats happening lol.

I had a friend that always wore his Icon motorcycle chest armor while playing. It was insanely hard. But I'd recommend knee and elbow pads more than anything as the ground can sometimes be more punishing than the actual hits.

I have a weee bit of a feeling that they are used to the feel by the time they're a pro. All of them are wearing as much padding as they are legally allowed to promote the best chance of a bounce occurring.
Which is a perfectly good reason to wear it as well, the more your advantage, the better.

again, this is the wrong way of thinking about it. It's incredibly important for people of all ages to wear knee/elbow padding, at least. You need to take care of your body, or else you'll be feeling like an old man in a few years.
I'm 22 with chronic joint pain because I used the philosophy that I didn't need pads. It's not the paintball hits that you have to worry about, it's the wear and tear on your body from diving, sliding, etc.
The sport is still young, so it's too early to draw conclusions as to the damage that can be done to one's body during a competitive paintball career, but eventually, this will seem like more and more of a trend, and the emphasis for frequent players to wear joint padding will increase.

I play speedball and rec ball I wear elbow pads, Knee pads. If get back into tournament play i will pick up slide shorts and a bounce shirt and get a more padded jersey.
Pyromaniac- ask pro about the joint damage. i am not a pro but play alot for a few strait mess my knees up then add school sport on top of it.

You'll notice conditioning is a big part of current professional paintball. That's not only so you can run a lot of points without being tired, but is also akin to adding bulk in the NFL so a player can take hits without injuring himself.
Fitness and proper protection are imperative if you want your body to last past your 20's/30's

good point, knee pads are very smart, but i would rather be cool and have no protection (except for a cup) and have a little more pain when getting hit,

Thats a different purpose though. You dont wear those to lessen the pain of getting shot, you wear them you when you dive, you dont scrape your prick off or skin your knees. Preventing actual injury, not superficial and temporary welts.
Believe me, Ive dove and crawled without pads and I was a bloody mess at the end of the day.
Now I wear elbow and knee pads with just plain street clothes (I dont wear a jersey or paintball pants). If I get shot in the biceps, chest, legs, or neck, Im taking a full force shot without padding.

it takes all kinds its all i have to say.
i remember when i first started playing in 01, i had it built into my mind that getting hit hurt, all i did was pad up with clothes back then. 2 undershirts and a jersery, some long basketball shorts under my padded jt pants. didnt think a neck guard was needed till i got shot 3 times in the adams apple.
personally u can tell a noob to the game when u see them rolling around in those huge shouldpad type protectors. a good mask, a bandanna around the neck, a single undershirt and a pair of slider shorts will take up alot of the pain from getting hit. now its been a few years and you will realize after a bit that the pain from getting hit is really not that bad, and your gear will change and your game will get better after that. i would say try it for now, but try without it as well, and youll evolve to a better player and start moving more without uneeded items hindering your way
