Hmm remindes me a lot of an open world Left for Dead. Looks good though, hope it isnt as easy to find weapons and as powerful as weapons so easy like you see in the demo. Its much more rewarding spending time looking for a weapon than it is getting a decked out M4 right off the start.
The thing is that Day Z isnt a game. Its a MOD for Arma 2. The War Z is a full fledged stand alone game, and it will be amazing if its anything like we think it will be.
Also, the term Z-Day came from Max Brooks who authored The Zombie Survival guide. Max Brooks also authored a book called World War Z.
The "Z" term is very common throughout the Zombie survivalist community and it isnt a stretch for 2 zombie games to share that "Z" term. Especially if both games are trying to hit the hardcore zombie survival market.
They might be ripoffs of one another, but this game graphically looks a lot better. I'm optimistic that this game can be pretty good, because Day Z had a good idea, but it's buggy as **** currently.
This sounds very cool. I think this is one area where DayZ currently lacks, theres not enough zombies! I want to walk into a city and fear that I might walk around the corner to see 100+ zombies roaming the streets.
I think that would possibly cut back on a lot of the player vs player kills. Sure, that is a fun aspect of the game, but it's a zombie apocalypse game. I want to be more afraid of the dead than the living.
Sergey posted on their forums asking users if they would pay $30 for access to alpha version. Price would include access to beta and full version as well. If he was serious it sounds like we may get to play this game earlier than we thought if you are willing to play in alpha.

This.
If War Z can avoid the issues DayZ has, while delivering solid gameplay and a fun environment, I can see it doing ok. It is never going to have head turning sales, but I could see it becoming a word of mouth game that people get to check out and play because a well executed zombie mmo would be a blast.

Couldn't agree more.

I think it will make the game just that more intense, at the same time, if theres as many player kills as there are in DayZ though, I doubt I'd ever spend money on anything.
Maybe they should make it to where you only lose paid items if you are killed by a zombie.
I guess I just don't understand it. Why would you pay for anything if you can lose it? It's just throwing money away because you KNOW people are going to kill you. You don't get killed a lot in DayZ because that's how DayZ is. You get killed a lot because people are awful. They just make the paid items cosmetic like clothes for your character that you can't lose. That's how a lot of newer F2P games are handling it.
That's why I say that if anything, they should make it so that you only lose paid items if you are killed by a zombie. Even then, I don't think that I like it. IIRC though, the paid items are things that can still be found in game with out purchasing.
You would only purchase if you really wanted a certain item at that particular moment.
If that is true, their model really isn't that bad of an idea. I mean, if they allowed you to buy items and let you keep them when you died, what would stop people from spending a crap load of money to get all the best gear. Then they could just run around and rape all the poor kids.
So they either need to keep it that way, or change the items that can be bought to only be cosmetic. Like generic clothing, hats, shoes or game badges.
Nothing official yet. Talks of releasing alpha to the public for a fee though. That fee would give you access to beta and full version as well. If that happens it should be available soon as they aren't too far away from beta.
I'm just going by my own assumption. I haven't actually read anything that said they are close to beta. They could still be a few months away from that.
Yeah sounds are still a little wonky at times, and the crawl movements look weird. It looks really fun to play. Does look very much like DayZ in some ways. At times the environment reminds me of Red Dead.
