Mags leaking down the barrel?
Hi Forum,
Two of the people I play with have mags (an automag classic and a minimag, both more or less stock). They have the same problem and I'm interested in troubleshooting it or at least understanding the troubleshooting even though these aren't my markers.
Basically, you can air the guns up and they hold air just fine. With the first trigger pull, they will fire correctly, but after that they leak air down the barrel nonstop until you turn the air off. Pulling the trigger back again will cause the air to stop leaking but the gun doesn't actually fire.
Wondering if it's the sear not catching the bolt? Any other ideas?

First and easy fix make sure you oil up the valve, they love and hog oil.

We need to know your setup. Type of valve, lvl 10, etc. Could be something as easy as just needing oil or a bad main spring change.

You guys will have to pardon my ignorance, I'm just getting back in to the hobby and I'm not back up to speed on terminology yet. Neither of these are lvl 10, both are dead stock classic automag valves. Bodies not painted. Tried oiling as that had fixed this same problem on one of the guns in the past.

Probably just an ON/OFF pin issue. Could be the rings, could need some polishing.

Here's your shirt
First thing first. Find the leak.
Air up the marker.
Pull and hold the trigger down.
If it stops leaking then it's a bolt issue. (#16 or could be a bad spacer or spring #13)
If it continues it's a on/off issue. (#22-23)
Replace packings accordingly and repeat. If it comes down to it being the bolt and changing the packing doesn't work, you might have to get a smaller spacer #13)
Do us a favor and take pics of the sear for us.

Sorry, I mixed them up
If it leaks down the barrel with the trigger at rest, you have a leaky powertube o-ring. If it leaks down the barrel with the trigger pulled, you have a leaky on/off (top) o-ring.

buy a parts kit and replace the powertube oring and if that doesnt work then it is most likely going to be an O-ring from numbers 17-23 in the diagram above

And OP just so you know, if you are looking at that picture then 1-9 does not concern you. That is the level 10 bolt. You should start with 10, the bumper. I'm still pretty sure its just an on/off issue.

I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire two hundred shots or one hundred and ninety nine?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is an automag, the best marker in the world, and would blow your nuts clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

You have bolt stick, change the power tube o ring, and the return spring if tis worn out(when on the bolt it should extend beyond the bolt face),
