Any chance everyone can stop posting how they want to come to this event? I understand you're all entering the contest, but you're just spamming this thread with useless posts. Trying to get actual content here.

The paint price is pretty good as I am used to paying $65.00 plus tax for a case where I have played my last two events I attended. Use 2-3 cases.

Over the years DON has had up to 1000+ players and it has had as low as 300-400 players.

I have been to waaaaay to many events to do any fare comparison. Or type it all out for single post.

DON is the largest and most attended 24 hour event in California.

They allow tanks, PUGS, Rocket launchers, and grenades.

The death cards give you instant reinsertion after checking in with a ref.

There is camping and a pretty big vender fare.

Like the others It is a huge paintball event so get there as early as you can to avoid long reg lines.

So to answer your question how does it compare?? Waaay too many details to cover with such an open ended question but if you like to shoot allot of people, crawl in the bush, play in a city scene, camp, and have hours of continuous play then get your butt to SC Village.

Wink

The event plays more like a "Big Game" event. There is a lot of paint flying. MilSim guys find lots to do on the southern end of the field, while speelballers, role, and prop guys spend most of their time hunting each other on the north end. You get everything and more at this event. Best part, some of the best teams in the world, in my opinion, are there to show off their stuff, and show the next generation of scenario players what "you" the player can do to turn a good event, into a mind blowing.

But what do I know.

Thanks for your reply. I was just about to make a thread asking people who've gone what to expect. I'm not a stranger to the big game/scenario but like you said, every place and every game is different.

Being from the other side of the US, I don't hear that much about DoN or even SC village other than it's a famous field.

TBH, I don't even know what to expect from SC Village.

How does the schedule for this game usually go? When is game on or how long do you play each day? Multiple air stations? Just trying to see how this compares to East coast games.

They put the schedule of the whole weekend in this thread if you didn't catch it already: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3843862

When is game on or how long do you play each day?

Game on starts at 12 noon Saturday 10:30 am on Sunday and you play as long as you have paint and air until the game pauses or ends.

Multiple air stations?

They have easy access, air stations, but not near any CPs but within a short walking distance. One bank near the camping area and one bank near the playing field. Every time I have played at Decay, the lines have been short.

Just trying to see how this compares to East coast games.
Hope my answers help.

I went to OK D-Day 2010, Decay of Nations V (2011). Never been to Living Legends.

OK D-Day:
Week long paintball event with mini-scenarios nearly every day, speedball fields open daily, a night game with pyrotechnics, and a big parade on the day before game day. 2000-3000 players or more. 500+ acres to run in, lots of players from around the world, tanks, anti-tank teams, infantry, special forces, airborne, 'beach' landings especially Omaha Beach. Tank and anti-tank play can be game changing. Most points are scored by control of a location at certain times. Other points are scored by tank kills and sniper kills. Some players decked out in period WWII uniforms. Jake McNiece, WWII veteran of 101st airborne attends if he's feeling up to it. Nothing like meeting one of the 'Greatest Generation' in person. One flat price ($80?) for all week plus a small fee ($10) for camping all week. Paint about $65 a case. Huge camping area. Motels and restaurants are 15-20 miles away. There are usually a couple of food vendors, plus a good contingent of paintball vendors. German and Allied units patterned after the real WWII D-Day. Hot. Humid. Thunderstorms and windstorms are not uncommon. Did I say Hot? Humid? Cook your brain hot and humid. Some players take the 'us vs them' thing too seriously. Rule changes from one year to the next can create issues. Long hikes in hot humid weather unless you can get a ride. Physical conditioning is very important for D-Day.

OK D-Day is great week long paintball event that every scenario player should aspire to at least once in their life. I would like to go again, but it's a long, expensive way from Cali to Oklahoma.

The night game in Colleville was the most epic paintball battle I've ever been in. We started the game upstairs in the church. The pyrotechnics, the darkness, and the rain of paint hammering the sides of the church made for one epic experience.

Decay of Nations:
Weekend event including a night game at world famous SC Village with about 1000 players. Vendor contingent ok. Mech robots and famous paintball personalities in attendance. Registration and air about $80. Paint about $50 a case. Was brain melting hot in 2011. Thankfully they moved the game to October when it should be cooler. Fabulous SoCal weather (as long as it's not too hot). Camping facilities limited, but plenty of motels, restaurants and other facilities close by.

Both fields have great facilities for play. OK D-Day has 'bombed out' villages ala WWII style, Colleville church, dedicated command posts with communications, and dead zones all over the field. SC Village has a variety of villages with dead zones and facilities not too far away. SC Village is smaller than OK D-Day, which is not necessarily a bad thing if you are on foot.

OK D-Day is bigger, longer and seems more difficult to manage because of its size and scope. Decay of Nations is smaller, shorter and well-managed.

For me Decay of Nations is closer to home, shorter, and cheaper. But I still long for OK D-Day every June. Maybe someday ...

This looks like it will be another AWESOME scenario event. I have been to OK D-Day for the last five years. With that information I would say at least 2 cases of paint, probably 3 but I can control my trigger finger a little bit.

And with the advertised paint prices, I'd also have to go straight for the EVIL Paint.
