Soon to be HOFer Don Nelson plays a weekly poker game with Woody Harrelson, Willie Nelson, and Owen Wilson. The NBA all time leader in wins hangs out with a bunch of known "herbal remedy" advocates. Just thought it was kinda funny.

No, he didn't. Shaq was easily the most dominant player in the NBA when he played with Kobe on the Lakers. Hence the reason Shaq won Finals MVP in all three of the Lakers' championships in that era.

ding ding ding.
Kobe rode second chair to the 'ship and that's the reason LA had to get rid of shaq. He couldn't handle not being the best player on his team. Otherwise, Kobe would probably have 6-7 rings right now instead of 5.

The NBA is about to act in hopes of stopping the floppers.
Spokesman Tim Frank said Thursday the league is finalizing procedures to deal with flopping, the art of falling down when little or no contact was made in an effort to trick referees into calling a foul.
“
If you continue to do this, you may you have to suffer some consequences. What those exactly should be and what the progression is, is to be decided, because ... we just want to put a stake in the ground that says this is not something that we want to be part of our game.
”
-- David Stern on flopping
Frank said the competition committee met two weeks ago and discussed plans that would go in place this season. Commissioner David Stern believes too many players are deceiving referees by flopping and has been seeking a way to properly penalize them.
The procedures likely will involve a postgame review of the play by the league office, rather than an official calling an infraction during the game, Frank said. Players likely would be fined if the league determined they flopped.
The proposed plan mirrors a "postgame analysis" option Stern discussed after the competition committee met in June. The league already retroactively reviews flagrant fouls to determine if they need to be upgraded or downgraded.
"If you continue to do this, you may you have to suffer some consequences," Stern said about flopping during the NBA Finals. "What those exactly should be and what the progression is, is to be decided, because ... we just want to put a stake in the ground that says this is not something that we want to be part of our game, without coming down with a sledgehammer but just doing it in a minimalist way to begin stamping it out. And I think there are ways we can do that and we'll have to wait and see exactly what we come up with."
The league's 62-person referee staff is holding its training camp, its first under the leadership of former NBA player and longtime league executive Mike Bantom. Bantom replaced Gen. Ron Johnson as executive vice president of referee operations earlier this month.
"I think one of the things that I'd just like to focus on is I think there's a perception out there that kind of throws into question sometimes the competence of our officials and even the integrity of them at times, and I think that that's not true to begin with and unfair, and I want to try and change that perception," said Bantom, who had been the league's senior vice president of player development since 1999.

His, "bad boy" image didn't pay off for him with the Lakers. Kobe likes to get chippy here and there, but he never messes with the coach (Bynum shooting 3's when told not too.) Too smart to do that.
Bynum is going to have clean up Howard's mess in Orlando. There was a lot of damage done the way D. Howard left Orl., and even more slack that is going to be needed filled for the star-stricken roster. Can he do it?
Me, personally: I can't wait to watch Ray Allen and the new Celtic team adapt without him. I believe Bass will step it up for his team shooting wise. He shot very well last season.
Exciting year it is for the NBA!!

I'm rooting for Brandon Roy to be a beast again. Cool to see AK-47 back too.
As much as I hate to say it, the Lakers are just going to roll the West and probably the entire NBA. They're ****ing stacked. First $100 million team in the NBA.

I mean the Twolves have some talent...Rubio,Williams,Budinger,Barea,Love,Pekovi c,Shved,Kirilenko,Roy, and Ridnour.
Hopefully we can put it all together and have no injuries! As a twolves fan I would just like us to get back to the playoffs. Havent been there since KG left.
And I do agree, the Lakers are stacked to the max once again. Going to be a Miami-Lakers showdown for the next couple of years

Kobe was the one who drew attention from perimeter defenders and got Shaq the ball in good position though. Shaq was never able to win big without a dominant guard.
On the other hand, Kobe won 2 rings with ***** Gasol and before Bynum emerged as a good/healthy center.

Two inches of pain.
Although I bet Lin is the one assuming the "bottom" role in this relationship.

Also, kudos to the NBA on the new flopping rule. The few broadcasters/columnists who are *****ing about it don't have a leg to stand on. Guys can still take charges and play defense, the league just doesn't want them flying the other way trying to fool referees. And as far as this being decided and nothing the players can do about it, it's the same way with any other fine by the league. If a player or coach complains about officiating they get fined.
