The lakers are good enough to keep up with the best teams in the league for like, 45 minutes. Then they get closed out and cant play defense and catn buy a bucket. They're soft, and even if they do sneak in as an 8 seed, I dont see it going past 5 games. They have great players, they're just not a good team.

they have great players that do not fit together at all in the game plan. they just chucked money at the problem and buss acted like a prideful dick, thus this is the product you get. d'antoni, although better than what they had, was definitely not the right choice. the west being completely stacked does not help the situation either
also, howard is more bull**** than he is worth.

I hope they sign Howard to a multi-year contract.

The only area Jordan exceeds Lebron in is shooting.

Lebron is a better passer, that's the only thing I'll give him at this point in his career. Everything else he is at best even with Jordan.

Lebron is better than Jordan, the only thing Lebron may not catch Jordan in is championships, but Lebron is doing things we've never seen anyone do ever.

When LBJ gets 6 big ones this will be a valid discussion. Bron still needs another ring to reach Olajuwon status. He's got a ways to go before he challenges Mike. I don't see it happening with him being on such a offensively stacked team like Miami with Wade, Bosh, Allen and Lewis etc. There is no denying his natural talent but the stats just won't be there.

Championships are a terrible argument when you're trying to compare players.
Another terrible thing about this debate is that you're comparing a 6'6" 200lb-ish guard in the 80's and 90's to a 6'8" 250+lbs forward of today. Nearly everyone is an athletic freak. New crazy diets and training/supplement programs. The game is just different now. Not to mention everyone in the NBA had a poster of Jordan on his wall growing up, trying to "Be like Mike".
One more thing, Lebron is 28 and Jordan played till he was 40 (With a couple retirements), doesn't it seem a little rushed to try and legitimately compare them?
Just sayin, but there was no Lebron James-like player in Jordans day. There are a handful of Jordan-like players today. Please notice how I said "like". No need to jump on my nuts everyone. Not saying they are equal to him, they just have very similar playing styles. Dwayne Wade comes to mind right off the bat.

That's exactly why LeBron is better though. He's dominating in an era of better talent, much better athleticism, and deeper teams. The only thing that Jordan did better than LeBron does now is medium to long-range shooting.

I agree that Jordan had a better mid range game but Jordan was actually pretty awful from 3 for the majority of his career. Jordan averaged 1.7 3PA per game at 33%. Lebrons career average is 4 3PA per game at 34%. Lebron is shooting 42% from range this year on 3.3 3PA per game. The only comparable season Jordan had was his first full season after he came back from baseball (3.2 3PA @ 43%).
My point is, the only reason Jordan should be considered a better 3pt shooter is because he shot it less often. IMO it's a push.

And Jordan didnt really develop range until later in his career. Kobe is a closer comparison to Jordan IMO. Lebron is just a totally ridiculous physical maninmal.

Ha yeah, I thought Kobe would have been a better example right after I posted that. I was just in a Heat frame of mind.

Same difference....they're all being compared to Jordan anyway.
The only situation I would prefer someone else over Jordan, would be the final shot of the game. That goes to Larry Bird, hands down.
