I bought a micro elite ul reel at bass pro on sale for 45$, it's been awesome all year

hmm ill take a look at that. my sister got my a giftcard for them so it would work out well. the 05 size would work nicely on my glass rod.


i wouldnt mind a whole new perch set up all together. thinking st. croix panfish 5-6ft rod and a shimano sahara or something. super light, toooons of action and will hold up to larger perch no problem. 180 bucks (give or take) id rather not spend, though

That's a nice reel. I myself have to buy a new rod for mine. Loading the boat in the dark one morning I set it in the boat and forgot about it and ended up breaking it into three pieces when I threw my heavy *** tackle bag ontop of it. Major fail on my part because I hadn't even had it that long at that point and still haven't bothered replacing it lol.

yea i did the same thing with my first UL rod on the current set up. i had it for a few months and got some serious heavy use out of it (3 times a week, easily). i threw it in my trunk and was not paying attention and closed the trunk on the rod snapping it in 2.

i am running a glass berkely trout dough rod in my current UL set and i am really impressed with it. its a crazy fast rod and the action is pretty wild, plus for 30-40 bucks if you destroy it its not that huge of a deal

i also fished braid for most of last year on my UL set, which kind of defeats the purpose (imo). i think i am going to run 4lb fluoro this year and keep a separate spool of 4lb mono if i want to float some live bait or use one of my micro poppers

Ended up selling my custom centerpin reel. Got $425 for it. Could have got more but wanted it sold quick

My whole set up was only like $35 so it wasn't a big loss. The reel didn't break so I just need to put a new rod and some new line on it. Maybe one day my lazy *** will get a rod sometime soon. I really like to use it when I have my smaller cousins down at the lake and they want to fish off the pier. They won't be there until summer though so I've got some time to get it done.

free $425 bones and you will get a lot more enjoyment out of that kayak. you can always get a ****ty pinning reel and throw some good bearings in it anyway.

i almost never use my pinning rig anymore, its just more of a pain then it is worth half the time. if i head out somewhere that is wide open with deep holes that are far out i love it, though.

the 2 square bills are strike kings (the tiger stripe one i found on a rock) and i used to have a slab hammer in there but i have no idea what happened to it. i might order one in the bleeding sexy shad and maybe the hot pink craw.

i get insane bluegill, perch and rockbass hits with the little silver rapala in there too. the mini tubes also are pretty nice for small smallmouth and crappie.

here is the UL rig. 5ft berkley trout dough rod and shimano sienna 1000 FD. funny thing is i think it might actually be heavier than my set up with the mid size quantum smoke + 7ft medium st. croix rod (that reel is crazy light)

Got out at 5:30, landed this guy at 6:45 on a size 2 gold/ red panther Martin with the slowest retrieve in history.
