Do you charge for this making of gun from gun?

Thanks!
I used to charge to custom make a gun, but people backed out mid build so I did away with that. I HATE turning people down when they request me to build something. Im a "challenge accepted" kind of guy, but I dont like being stuck with a marker unpaid for mid build. The thing is, I dont make a lot of cash for these builds. Usually cost of parts plus $50. Which isnt nearly enough for the amount of time I put into these. Takes me a solid week for the bolt actions.
Now I just build for the fun of it. I usually sell them afterwards. Always like to challenge myself with different increasingly difficult builds. More of a hobby now. Ive got 2 more final builds on the go then Im finished. A ppsh-41, and mauser bolt action.

That SKS is spiffy.
Nice work!
How much work did it take to radius the stock to accommodate the barrel?

Not much work actually. The handguard was the most difficult. Took a lot of material off that. But the barrel groove on the sks was pretty spot on with the paintball barrel I used.
The regulator on the other hand was carved into the stock with a wood chisel, as well as the "shroud" on the breech. Took me a couple hours total for all the woodwork.

I've thought about taking on something like this, I want an m14. How do you figure out what kind of marker you use.

I think the easiest is a spyder. They're small, simple, flexable, and CHEAP. For an m14, I would build some add-ons around the gun, instead of building the gun inside the body.

Ideally I wuld like to, but I cant bring myself to cut into that 60 year old wood. The beautiful Rusian star and serial number will be gone! That to me gives the rifle character.
Maybe on my later builds.

I would use an sp-1 - its shroud already looks M-14 ish, and its semi auto like one too. It is extremely easy to put one in a stock as well. Use DAM mags and you are set to go.
Alternitively I would use a GOG enmy. Its already mechanical, and should have no trouble fitting a trigger group on there.
