If they truly don't like the cost and pain of real paintball, then they will never go all out and play actual paintball; all they will do is play with toys like these, so in the end it doesn't really seem to help the sport.

The fact of the matter is that these are basically paintball toys, and while I like the idea to an extent, I think JT (or any other company) would be better off not making things like this.
We've seen the exact opposite at CPX with dozens of private groups over the past few months. The fact is that no one can speak definitively on what a group of people will or will not do until you go out and put it into real world testing. It's normal to have a preconceived opinion of what you think will happen but in the end it's really just a hypothesis.

Im all for it, and definatly buying a few sets. I have a airball field that is just sitting without any use. So thinking about just setting it up in my yard and getting kids in the area, and some of the guys closer to me that play at the field to buy some of these and just screw around on the weekends when bored. Its great not needing a air source. My only real gripe with it is the pistol having such a low capacity, seems like itd be almost double the cap compared to .68 pistols on the market.

this is a good idea, If only they made a gun that doesnt require air and could shoot 280 fps. Could make for some interesting backyard play. Atleast at my house, i have a few airball bunkers the field gave me

Right you are. I just think its not going to make as much of a difference/impact on bringing people into the sport as a lot of people are thinking, but thats my opinion.

Same here. Granted, I don't think the is the best idea in the world, but I'm in the same situation. I have about 8 air bunkers or so, so I might as well use them

Either way, let's hope potential buyers choose SplatMaster over an airsoft gun. It should be easier to convert a SplatMaster owner to paintball than the alternative.

If that holds true over the broad market spectrum, all the paintball industry (or more specifically, KEE/JT) has done is created another kind of shooting sport for people to enjoy. The really great thing is that this won't take away from paintball's player base in the slightest, unlike some other activities lately.

We have been testing them at our park in California and have found the younger kids enjoying them very much! We've even had some mom's join in to play! The key to making this successful is targeting the correct age group. We are looking to bring in a younger age group to get them to start thinking and talking about Paintball. To get them excited about it at 8 or 9 instead of 10 or 11 gives us more opportunity to bring new players into the game. Just today I have a group of 10 out playing Splatmaster, this group had originally booked a .68 cal birthday party and ended up calling to cancel because some of the parents wouldn't let their kids play Paintball. During our conversation I offered her the option of the new Splatmaster game we are testing, she spoke to the parents and called me back to let me know they were in. Not only that, but her other son who is 9 was SO excited because now he could play too!
Overall I think this will be a great introduction to paintball, I think it will help grow the sport and I look forward to being able to offer it on a more widespread basis.

So, the people who were given the products to test, and the big-name fields got to test, 'love it', and the smaller fields that make up 90% of paintball didn't get a word about it. Thanks for giving the sales to the Dick's Sporting Goods, Walmart, and Sports Authority around the corner. First, you give away field passes to my field, now you give the big box stores (my competition) gear that we had no idea about, I'm assuming you are still selling direct to customers, and now I'm going to have kids coming in trying to play with this equipment. Probably with the aforementioned free field pass.

Oh and I can't wait until they buy paint from me and then try and return it when it doesn't fit, because they didn't know the difference.

VERY unhappy. Don't give me your marketing BS about how it's great for little kids. How about you help the stores and fields carrying your product instead of your own damn bottom line?

Why is the measure in joules, why not in pressure?

mass x acceleration

maybe the 1 joule is just a way of making it sound better.

Because the joule is a standard unit of measure when speaking about energy transfer.

I realize this, but I bet comparing the force a regular paintball exerts against that of the 50 cal at this low velocity would generate more convincing numbers. Because stating a point with no baseline gives no room for comparison.

Paintball News Rules
  1. No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
  2. Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.

  4. Please don't post links for places to buy items. That encourages stores, sponsored players and other people to do it and spam the site.
