Making my MiniMag LP...

What's good? Just got this in:

STAT!!

And am looking to find a way to make it run properly off an LP tank.

From past experience, this wasn't too possible without any shootdown, inconsistencies or just not being able to get up to proper velocity.

Anywho, the gun came with a power tube spacer kit by PTP and it seems that the BLUE (middle length) Spacer is currently inside the gun.

Also: I know of Hill's efficiency mod, would that work in conjunction and allow me to run the gun off an LP tank (which seems counter intuitive, but when I shrunk the shot chamber in my shocker, I could run LP air more consistently through the gun.)

Anywho, any information is greatly accepted and thanked for.

That and I am on the hunt for a Hurricane Valve, lemme know if you guys see any of those floating around.

hills mod does the opposite. it runs off of a high pressure low volume approach. Smart Parts back in late 90s did the "Smart Mag" which ran the opposite, low pressure large volume. gun would shoot roughly 40-50 psi lower and was the biggest POS...

honestly whens the last time you saw a smart mag

mags thrive on high pressure low volume. changing that open a can of problems you dont want

EDIT, that mini is sexy

truf, I've seen only 1 in 3 years.

Thanks

I feel I got a fair deal on it, so I'm content.

Also, 2 things:

1. Yes, I understand the High Pressure/Low Volume thing, but I reeeeeaaally don't want to have an HP output reg. I get lazy and forget to change it back and then when I need to use it all my guns go like "Whaaat?"

2. AO officially hates me. They have permanently banned all my emails (somehow? brilliant people back there who are evil as well!) and when I email anyone running the site, it says my message doesn't get through as I'm blocked from their systems as well O_o

honestly it would be cheaper and more cost effective to buy a cheap tank and have a hp reg on that instead of switching out regs

I was thinking the same thing. Unless you're looking to get the RT effect, you don't need anything super crazy.

Well I actually have a tank with a megareg on it

I know right?

May be time to whip that ****er out instead of peddle it at this point...

And yeah, I have absolutely zero interest in RTing

But I must ask this then: Possible to put this megareg on a newer 4500psi system?

It's on this old 3kpsi tank with a birth date from something way yonder.

Note: I know not to fill it to 4500psi, I just want to be able to switch from mega to 4.5k reg at will.

I'd think it would be trivial, but may as well ask since I don't see info on it anywhere after a prompt 30-odd minute search.

i have no idea what other guns u have, but i assume if they are low pressure then they have regulators that "regulate" the input pressure down to whatever that gun is designed to operate on. no need to have a LP output tank. there is no reason or gain. get a HP output tank/reg(750-850psi), sell ur LP tank/reg and ur guns will all perform as designed. i cant think of a single low pressure gun that doesnt have an included regulator and would rely on a LP tank/reg.

A lot of the modern guns with macroless setups require low-pressure to keep from blowing out the seals between the ASA/Frame and Frame/Body.

Just to bring this back: I have a TI Hurricane valve at hand as well as a PPS Stab for this and still want to learn.

I have an LP and HP tank, but I prefer LP.

BTW: My Angels, G6rs, Shockers, E-Cockers, Cyborg, Quest and Legend run much better (angels and g6rs actually have to anyways) on LP than MP or HP anyways, which is why I mainly run LP.

Mags get starved at best on a LP tank. There's a reason people are telling you not to run it. They work much, much better on HP, and are designed to have at least 600 psi in order to get them to function. The valves should have at least 750 psi to be happy, and that's not for RT-ing. Any lower than 600 PSI going into the valve is going to be completely ineffective. It's how the marker was designed to operate. If anything, you want to go higher than a standard tank output reg.

The stab is going to be useless here. You can't raise the pressure from the tank using it.

only thing i could think of would be to use a back cap on the valve and use the stab maxed out but im not even sure that will get you up to chrono speed.or with out causing problems

the only way to make a mag LP is to remove the spring from the bolt, make the bolt move using a means not controlled by the air pressure in the dump chamber, make the dump chamber activate after the bolt is moved forward...

basicly, take the entire mechanism out of the mag and start from scratch.

you want an ion in a mags body

connect the clocking rod to the bolt and make it a closed bolt pump
