Well the beta applications are up now so, apply. And as far as the combat system I doubt it'll be anything like Skyrim. Looks like a whole new game but, we'll see.

Agreed without that style of combat what's the point. It'll just be another wow clone with the elder scrolls name pasted on.

I don't understand why people think this game will have Skyrim's style of combat. That wouldn't work in an MMO, it would be awful. Not saying it necessarily will be like WoW's combat, maybe they will do something different, but odds are it will be exactly the same. And I can guarantee it will not be like Skyrim.

Both of the people you quoted don't seem to think that this game will have Skyrim combat. Are you refering to people on other forums?

I think its more of a hope than an expecation. The last thing the world needs is YET ANOTHER fantasy tank/healer/dps hotbar, dungeon/raid, item progressions MMO. A lot of people like Skyrim, and a lot of people would like to play Skyrim with their friends, so I can imagine its only natural for people to hope that this isn't another refresh of gamings stalest genre.

Making it a cookie cutter mmo pretty much changes everything (except the lore I guess) about the series that keep people coming back for more. But to here someone say Skyrim style combat won't work in an MMO makes me sad. Skyrim combat could work fine in an MMO if they made it less like a WoW MMO and more like UO or Runescape.

I actually really like the Runescape comparison. You've got dozens of professions to work on and a handful of combat skills. You could have a wilderness where PK'ing is a free for all. Economy would be more player driven by crafters than just raiding over and over again for dice roll drops. Throw in some world bosses, in both the wilderness and otherwise, a couple rare events and resource nodes, a combination of instanced and non-instanced quests for balance reasons... It could keep almost all of that elder scrolls feel while also setting a new stadard for MMO's.

I would play the hell out of a modernized UO/RS in the Elder Scrolls universe. Mugging people in the wilderness would be awesome.

I like the comparison Greek, however dedicating zoned to PvP ehh. Maybe denying it inside the major cities. I feel like for it to really be elder scrolls I could see guilds acting like bandits on a road, things like that. The problem I see with how it's already being brought out is that there is factions that you must align with by your racial choice. Sounding like a cookie cutter mmo already

I don't think so. No one I know got an invite yet. I'm sure they'll announce when they plan on sending them out though. At least we can hope for that.
