Geo sputter/fsdo
I got a Geo w/ gr2 about a month ago and shot great all day the first day I played with it. Then I ended up getting a GST kit right away, cranked VVC screw all the way in and raised dwell to 14.5. Shot great at home but I went to the field and started sputtering the first couple shots and shot fine after that. after I let it sit between games i would constantly get either fsdo or the sputtering issue.
I've had the same sputtering issue with my ego8 before the solenoid blew so I'm really hoping thats not what it is.
I'm really curious why this started happening after I installed the gst and changed the settings. Should I not have the VVC screw all the way in? I also tried raising the dwell and that didnt help.

I don't know too much about PE guns, as the Ego 10 is my first and the Geo 2 will be my second, and my first spool valve gun. What my best suggestion with limited knowledge would be is to go and reset the factory settings on your board. Try that. Let me know, hope I helped

factory settings dont work with the gst it causes the bolt to barely cycle but yea id check the solenoid issue because you did what is supposed to be done with the gst but ive never heard of tightening the vvc screw in for it but i could wrong

VVC screw is fine however you want it, and dwell should start out +2ms higher then whatever you had it prior to the GST. Try replacing the battery?

Yea I thought the VVC wouldnt change anything besides efficiency, it was almost all the way out to the backcap before that. I put a new battery thats been in my parts box for awhile when installing gst. I'll have to go and buy a "fresh" one to see if that makes a difference.

Did you lube the can/bolt at all? If so, did you do the recommended "only wet the rings" method of lubing?
Was it chrono'd after the GST install?

Well, the first thing you should check is to see if the Gst Bolt is properly lubed, If it is and you still get the same results try reinstalling the original bolt, if the problem no longer occurs than it is probably a oring issue.
Ive noticed The GST bolt is rather tight when it is first installed, it needs a thin coating of lube on every o-ring (enough to make the orings appear "wet" too much or too little can cause issues)
Try lubing the bolt, and then push the bolt back in forth in the can and it should move smoothly, if there is any friction that causes the bolt to stick during the forward and backward movement, try to find the oring that is causing the bolt to drag it and make sure it is lubed, and possibly replace it (shouldnt need replaced, but you never know)
Before you start tweaking your gun to try to fix it, try what worked in the past to see if the GST bolt is causing your problem or if other things are at fault.
Also a good fresh battery and a good paint to barrel match may help you solve the problem.
Hopefully this helps

Yep, as stated, the first things that I would try are a fresh quality battery, abd cleaning and re-lubricating the bolt with just a little grease.
If the problems persist, I would then try changing the 14x2 o-rings on the bolt and Prop, and the #017 on the inside of the can.
If this is a new ST kit it may just be as simple as it needing to be used a bit until it smooths out a bit.
If you continue to have issues, then I would try servicing the solenoid.
Adjusting the anti bolt stick value seems an obvious thing to try, but if you have already tried increasing dwell, and it had no effect, then that probably isn't going to help you any.
I can't see the VVC adjuster as being an issue in this instance. If anything, with the VVC screw all the way in, your operating pressure is likely to be a touch higher, and that should help to push the bolt forwards.

If the pin hole vent weren't present, the marker would fire when it was degassed, which wasn't mentioned. I also don't think that that would have any impact on the solenoids ability to vent the air holding the bolt back, so it shouldn't effect the marker's cycle.
