Demon Shotdown

I just purchased a Demon about a month ago and LOVE IT!
However, I noticed when I chrono it and shoot a stream, the fps drops significantly to the low 260's. If I chrono with single shots it's 297, 295, 296, but once it ramps it goes WAY down.

Why is this happening and what can I do to stop it? Thank you so much!

My dwell is at 16 if this makes any difference.

What tank are you using. What is the output pressure on the tank regulator? Have you serviced your HPR?

Also, how many shots are on the gun, it just might need the regulator to be broken in.

I'm using two tanks with the same results: dye throttle with 850psi and a ninja with 450psi. I have not serviced my HPR at all. 13000 shots through the gun.

With my new demon I pulled the HPR apart and cleaned it out, found some extra build up (From the internals on the HPR being new + the Small rub off from the New O-rings) after around 4000 ish shots

So once I wiped down the o-rings and re-lubed them up it immediately helped my shoot down. I was having the same issue, where if i shot at 1 or 2 BPS i'd be at like 280, put a stream down and it would drop down to 260.

Try changing your fsdo setting or turning it off, then crank the hpr. Your gun might be set to 260s but your first shot drop off might be pushing it into the 90s until you actually shoot . Could easily not be the reason but simple enough check it out

Not sure that's the best advice to fix the problem. It is good advice to over pressurize and potentially blow your solenoid.

I would disassemble, clean, check the o-rings, and then re-lubricate your Regulator.

When I said crank the hpr I didn't nccesarily mean to just push it. But was thinking his fsdo settings maybe doing something . If he turned it off and saw it shot 260s off the bat?

If HPR servicing did not resolve the issue, what would be the next step?

Ok so I serviced my HPR and nothing seemed out of the ordinary when I took it apart and relubed it. I am still getting the shotdown. What should I do now?

Bump your dwell to 18. See if that changes the shoot down. Also, have you cleaned and re-lubed your drive train?

Yes I've cleaned and relubed the drive-train. I do that everytime before I play. What would cause my HPR not to recharge quick enough? I ran a dwell of 18 to break it in and it still did it.

Guess I better buy some super brittle paint or just one-ball it the whole time LOL

You can send it in if you want me to look at it.

There's nothing else to try before sending it in?

Yes, clean, lube, check the o-rings in the HPR. Clean lube and check the o-rings in the drive train. If you're still having the problem...I'm not sure what else to suggest for shoot down. It's generally considered a regulator re-charge issue. It could be a solenoid or board issue worst case scenario, but without being able to check those parts through process of elimination, I'm not sure what else to suggest.

I say turn the reg up a bit higher than suggested and retune everything else to get the gun shooting at a higher pressure setting. See if that helps. If not you may want to add a thin shim to your spring pack to bump up the tension a bit. Really thin! Like the thickness of an average greeting card.

Another thing to check is if you put the reg piston in without an oring on it, is there drag? There shouldn't be.......if there is you want want to polish down the outer edge of the piston where it contacts the walls of the regulator until there is no drag or binding. Then slap the oring back in and try again. Use like 800 grit sand paper.

He got the new bolt system and that fixed it for him (it also shoots even softer now if you can believe it)

I switched to an Axe.

My guess is there was a really tight oring in there somewhere, even though he used the proper size. Never buy a spooler unless you know how to size orings! lol.
