hey everyone,

just looking for some ppl to play with. i am a noob as u can probably imagine. i used to play in a run down paper mill in manchester with some friends. i am a bit of a chicken when it comes to going to a legit place to play speedball and woodsball (anxiety lol). i picked up an entry level kit - empire rage er3, mask, plain hopper, 20oz co2 tank, and 6pods/harness. horizontal so i figure its for woodsball. just looking to make some friends to play on the weekends. as i said just trying to make some friends to meet up with - so i dont have a heart attack at a place and ppl can show me the ropes. THanks!

if it makes a difference, im 27 and work for an insurance company in IT. i think u r the kind of crowd that knows: I was CAL-i in Counter-Strike Condition Zero with 3xN and CAL-m in Counter-strike 1.6 with 2Lynn. Also I am in a cobalt ss forum. I have an 06 cobalt ss. lol

trust me.. im a ref there and everyone is really nice. You wont have a problem finding people to play with that are your calibar. We have a airball field, hyperpipes, village with a helicopter and 2 woodsball fields. Games in the woods and village are crazy. We run different scenarios like capture the down pilot(crash test dummy)

Hogans is great and the players and refs are very very nice. There are all levels of competition and everyone is more than willing to help you out. Just as a demographic reference, I'm pretty close to yourself. I'm 26 with a degree in computer engineering, working IT for a school district. There are people from all walks of life that come together to play, and thats part of what makes it so great.

Agreed...Hogan's alley is great. Fields are great, refs and employees there are very friendly. Ask them what they think and they'll definately show you the ropes...I have some people go every couple of weeks to Hogans as a party, and struggle to get 10 people...pm me and we'll talk...everyone else in my party are new and getting into paintball as well.

If you're someone who can tollerate contacts I would definitely suggest going that route. I wear contacts myself and you dont run the risk of fogging up your glasses during a game.

I am unsure if I can tolerate them - ive never worn them before lol. What do most ppl complain about? I am seeing a eye doc that is a contact specialist as well. I do plan on using them, will hope for the best lol

I've been wearing contacts for years. Keep them clean, replace them as directed & don't sleep in them.

Good stuff, ill see how it all works out later today.

Also, my marker came with a yellow plug instead of a sock for the barrel. Is that even legal ?

While I believe a plug is technically legal, you would be smart to spend the $5 and buy a barrel sock instead. Much safer for you, and more importantly, the people around you.

As for contacts, just be aware that your eyes need to build a callus before they are comfortable enough to not notice you have them in. I know too many people that give up on contacts because they don't feel amazing the first time you put them in. Tuff it out in the beginning, because it will pay off in the end, contact are definitely the way to go for action sports of any kind. Even more so in paintball where you are wearing a mask.

You are correct. It's annoying and usally not comfy. As for the pod pack, you can play with what ever you like. Also most fields require socks just purchase one and your fine.
