Okay, so I have been searching and have not found an answer to this question. What size bore are the tips in the freak barrel kits? A safe assumption would be, around a .695 in order to accommodate the .695 insert. Now, even though this is a safe assumption, I want to know if that is correct. Also, if the tip size is that size, what happens when you use a smaller insert? Does it have an effect of some sort on your shots? If so, what kind of effect? Lets say you use a .680 insert, and the tip is .695, how will that effect it? Thank you in advance.

Yes the front's bore is .695. When you use a smaller insert, here's what happens:
1. The ball is pushed into the insert by the bolt
2. Air is applied
3. The ball's flight path is already set by the insert, so it's not going to touch the any of the inside of the barrel
4. The paintball is now at speed
5. The porting on the front helps slowly release excess air, quieting the shot.
6. The ball exits the barrel

The answer, there is an effect on the shot. The insert predetermines the flight path of the ball (if you bore match it). Imagine a cannon with a 2 foot diameter, if you load a cannon ball with a 1 foot 11 inches diameter, yeah it will shoot, but not as far or accurate as if the cannon were also 1 foot 11 inches. Hope this helps, it can be a little bit confusing.

That does explain a lot actually. Thank you for the help. It's much appreciated. Pretty much, I was looking to buy a freak kit, but was unsure as to if it reapply would be worth it, and if it really did make a solid difference. From what it sounds like, it would be a good thing to buy.

Barrel kits are a great thing to buy so that you always have the right size handy. Freak is a good kit.

Love my freak kit! Only recently have I needed to pick up .677 and .675 inserts due to paint getting smaller and smaller but it's bore sizes are a wide range of selections so you're always covered.
