Camera RAW. Or Adobe Bridge. I'm pretty partial to Bridge if I want to just view/delete photos, but you can access Camera RAW via Bridge.

Lightroom 4 here. Macs can natively display the embedded jpegs in a RAW file in Finder if I just want to browse them. From what I remember, there's a codec to make the same thing possible in Windows Explorer, but I've only had it work properly on one system.
Back in the day before I got used to Lightroom 2, I used Bridge as a file browser/organizer and loaded files into Adobe Camera Raw for processing. It worked for a while, until I started shooting more and had massive amounts of importing and cataloging to do. Lightroom made more sense then, as it has a lot of process automation that's faster and more simple to use.
I've never actually used Canon's DPP for more than five minutes, compared to Adobe solutions out there, the workflow is painfully slow and inconvenient. Adobe has the market cornered, so I don't think Canon really feels the need to put any real effort into the software, and simply provides it for the sake of doing so. There's a couple of Lightroom clones out there by different companies, such as Capture One. Again though, Adobe has the big guns in image processing, so usually the hottest advancements are in Lightroom or ACR. I've heard some purists say that they use DPP to get the best final image quality, but I see no difference personally between it and Lightroom. In fact, my end results are always better from Lightroom since I'm more familiar with the workflow.

I've been using bridge a lot lately. Especially since I'm just taking 1-2 photos out of 10 to process. Lightroom is good to view and process in batches, though.
