**Special Note***
Battle born competed in 4 games prior to several players departing for the military. The Region attempted to rebuild the team prior to their 5th game but was unable to. Without the team completing at least half of their season, playing each team once, then their record was erased and a forfeit loss was entered into the record books.
Officially the team is a DNF - Did not finish.

Mind posting some photos? It would be cool to see some of the teams involved.

does the offense and defense always start from a particular end of the field? for example, If the offense always starts from the north side and the defense from the south side you could have a field that isn't mirrored across the "50 yardline".
The defensive side could have less bunkers with wider lanes giving the offense a slight edge to encourage action.
Or perhaps the offense side has a few more bunkers giving the offense an advantage of having more breakout possibilities (arguably similar to the offense in football knowing the play call and snap count, etc etc).
What regions are active? I only see region 3 and 6 having any teams or events (based on your website - which is severely lacking). How are the regions geographically defined?

The teams switch ends after every quarter. The field does not have to be mirrored since each team will play either end an equal number of times. Some fields have been made reverse mirrored and played very well.
There is plenty of action built into the system just as basketball forces the ball carrier past half court using the clock and then their movement past half court starts the shot clock; ergo forced action. We follow the same principle ideas to keep the action going.
The inaugural year was scheduled to have 12 < 16 regions, hence the large number of field icons on the website. However, numerous regions were unable to start playing for various reasons and only two regions started and completed their regular season game play.
All suggestions to the website may be submitted to Support@NationalPaintballLeague.com
Regions are centered on participating fields. A region will be created once the field signs up to participate.

I couldn't find info about what happens to an eliminated player. Can someone share?
I have always wanted limited paint on the field to make people think more about their shots. Why not limit players to two pods and a hopper each time they step on the field? It will force more strategic angles and swapping players out who have more paint available. They could be allowed to reload after each possession.

Soccerguy; please note that the flag transitions to the opposite team after each play, unless there is a penalty. Also, the teams change ends of the field in each quarter.
GoblyGoop; eliminated players will immediately depart the field and return to their team sideline, pit, and wait for the next play to start.
Limited paint was tried two years ago when we first started testing the game format but we found out that with an average play time of 1 min 15 seconds that most players were only going through a hopper and a pod, so the need for limited paint was negated.
Great suggestions, thank you.

Indeed, great things spawn of humble beginnings.
Speedball is not for everyone. Paintball is a hobby, Speedball is a sport.

NPL: do you actively solicit fields? If you do try and spur up interest in KS!

Soccerguy243; We do actively recruit fields and any field that you think may be interested has but to contact the league. We will contact any lead submitted. So, if your local field has some interest, we will discuss the opportunity with them and or set up a demonstration game and owners meeting at the field.
Let us know how we may help and if within our power, we will.

Most of you arent even old enough to remember 10man format let alone 15 man format. How many current paintball leagues started out with only a hand full of teams...I for one was part of the first year of X-ball...and know exactly how many teams played that first year. And look at it now, it takes time for things to grow, and change is a hard pill to swallow. if you choose not to play or support a new, fast, fun and player friendly league thats fine...no problem. But if your bashing on NPL and you havent even tried it...you have no room to talk, no platform to voice your "opinions".
I support NPL because its easy to follow, easy to play (especially for new and young players, who by the way are the future of paintball), not to mention the cost is 10 times less expensive than any other league out there, local or otherwise, plus, with the number of times you play in a day/week/month/entire year of NPL, it improves your game...so the next time you chose to play another format/league, you are a step ahead of everyone else.

NPL Regular Season wrapped up August 26th, just in time for football season.
Good luck with your fantasy teams.

6 teams with 7 players each with a 10 game season means over 60 games played and the season was a fight to the finish.
Every team had a father son pairing on them and every team had no more than 1 ranked D3 player as their highest skill level.

Can someone explain how this is simpler then "take center flag to their start box = 1 point"
Also how is it cheaper than xball?

Sounds fun to me. Too bad I'm too far from anywhere to reasonably play.
