I understand it in pro sports, even college sports...simply because that is what is given to them. For example, just because a football team uses Nike cleats doesn't mean each player thinks those cleats are the best, that is what is given to them. For teams that 99% of the time have to pay for everything...telling one player is has to buy the nicest, or the opposite and telling one player he has to get something cheaper isn't very fair.
I play college paintball and they don't care what color/kind of cleats you wear. Matching jerseys maybe pants is understandable. Matching headbands, shoes, loaders etc is over the top.

College paintball as of right now is usually not a school sport, it is a school club.

I was referring to college/pro football, baseball, and basketball, not paintball.
Actually, I believe that the NCPA Division A teams are required to have matching jerseys.

I watched the videos, this is going to fall on it's face just like moneyball did. It's overcomplicated and frankly, less interesting than the mainstream formats.
However, the regional team idea is pretty interesting, just make it xball and call it a day.
Where did you see a game played Frank? I thought you of all people would want to do touchdown dances in the end zone like when we won the first USPL tournament together. (Was that the right name?)
I can see what they're trying to do - adding a focal point to the game. The problem is that the player with the flag comes under far too much heat to move easily once the other team knows where they are, slowing the game to a crawl. I say give the guy a vortex football that he can throw to teammates!
It's definitely better than moneyball however, no question about that. Much easier to ref and watch.
In some ways it's similar to my own format vBall, only more complicated and probably with less tactical variety. vBall also wont have game slowing issues and doesn't bother with the offense defense thing.
The videos that you are seeing are to explain the play of the game and do not really show you the pace of it. We have been playing this format for the last couple weekends and it very fast. Everyone that has been playing at our field has told me the same thing it is one of the funnest formats they have played and fastest.

This format would be a lot better if the "defensive" team actually had a reason to move, shoot, or do anything other than hold the 50. Srsly, this throws most of the aggressiveness Xball has established out the window.

why not let the defensive team cross the fifty? If they have the opportunity to cause the "side out" you would think they would want to to allow it so teams can close out points compared to letting them run to time and a boring stand still. Interesting concept but it really is less interesting to watch then an xball. The speed/aggressiveness seems to be unmatched by anything to come out at this point.
I'm curious to try it and see it in person but still would rather stick to xball. Will someone please just adapt what the cxbl and everyone up north is doing on a national scale already and end this whole league debate!

That's the point. However, when it's played full bore, it's much different. There is a clock that starts when the flag crosses the 50, forcing the players to close the game out.
In addition, the defense can cross the 50, just not much past. There is a red zone that the d can work around.
When we have tried to explain and show players the rules everyone has had pretty much that same things to say as most of you guys had said but then they play it and it all starts to make sense, even when i first heard about it i was like it probally won't work till i actually saw and played it, then i was like this is awesome. I have seen that same thing over and over with the players that we have showing it to, at first they are like i dont't know about all this the n they play and it all makes sense.
Well hell if it really does work then more power to ya. Get some pros to try it and if they like it that'll be a big step in the right direction. Other than my own (obviously :-P ) this is definitely the best alternative format to date.
