12.0 dwell on demon ?

I recently lowered my dwell all the way down to 12.0 and it shot great can this end up being a problem or has anyone encountered issues with trying this?

No problem. As long as you're not experiencing shoot down, you're fine.

Yup, here is what you may want to know though.

Generally. the longer you keep the O-rings in the Demon (assuming non break or tear) the more the wear in, Which means you can lower the Dwell.

Lowering the Dwell on the Demon increases the Consistency shot to shot basis. And only in extreme cases... IE Dwell of oh.. lets say.. 3.0 you suffer lower velocities

So with the Dwell, You want to lower it as much as possible, right before it starts to lower your velocity..

IE if your velocity average peaks at 12.4 ms, then dips at 12.2 ms, then you want to put it near that 12.4/12.3 area.

the further Up you go has two situations

1) If the O-rings Are NOT broken in, then it will increase your velocity, this is used to help overcome FSDO

2) if the O-rings ARE broken in, you will notice a small jump in Velocity, But a larger fluctuation in FPS.

Also: The lower you run the dwell. generally the more "On Top" of the lubing you should be, As the O-rings dry out, with a smaller Dwell. Your velocity will be effected more. (higher dwell negates the "dryness" with more force.)

So other then needing to be ontop the lubing, and making sure you stay on the maintenance, there is no reason not to keep lowering your dwell as you go.

also: Your Official Bad *** award has come in. 12.0 ms dwell with a Spool is Awesome!

One should also note....that while it works great in this hot summer weather, once things cool down you may have problems. So later on in the season you may need to adjust it upward a bit.

The lowest dwell I ever ran was 12 on a pm8 I had. The thing was magic. 12 dwell and 1 turn on the LPR. Never seen a gun that smooth in my life. I miss that gun now that I think about it.

My Demon has about 31.5k shots through it. I bought it used and my first time using it was yesterday and it shot great. Dwell is at 15.0 though, is that too high?

Depends on the O-rings. Dwell times should be associated with how worn in the O-rings are:

With a Fresh O-ring you should Run it about 15.5 ms (stock)
With new O-rings in the HPR and the Inner Can (where the bolt is) bump it up to 16 ms or even 16.5ms to help overcome the new O-rings

After about 2000 shots you can start dropping your dwell,
from there on its yourself gauging how low you can set the dwell.

Generally if your over the chrono, take a few shots, find your velocity average, and then drop your dwell by 1ms
take a few more shots,

if - Your Velocity Decreases a Small amount, But your constancy increases
-> Lower Dwell again

If - Your Velocity Decreases a larger amount, No increase in Consistency / FSDO / Bolt stick
-> Raise Dwell.

Start with larger increments, and then decrease them ( ie 1ms then 0.5 ms, then maybe 0.2 ms ) to fine tune it as you please.

afterwards, Re-adjust your velocity to where you need it. (Should only be a fine amount, ie 5 -10 FPS. if your dwell is at 15ms and you drop it down to 10ms yea, then you would probably be facing potential FSDO and funky velocity issues. But generally Broken in O-rings on the Demon = about 13.5ms
