Need advice on painting my barrel
I want to have a friend who does air brush work put some custom designs on my Stiffi Carbon Fiber barrel. My assumption is that I don't want any paint to get inside the barrel, correct? With the barrel having air holes running most of the length whats the best way to get it painted without getting paint inside the barrel?
Thanks for the help!

When I painted a barrel with ports I stuffed the inside full of paper towels. It worked really well. I cleaned the inside really well afterwards as well. It was a brass barrel not CF but should work just the same

If its a stiffi carbon fiber barrel i think that you would be better off buying a cheap aluminum barrel and then sending it off to get annoed to what you want. annodizing a barrel will make the color last longer than paint and in my opinion looks alot cleaner. but anyway your gear so if you choose to paint the barrel do what davito said and put paper towels down the barrel because you really do not want to get that kind of paint dried in your barrel.

I don't want the whole barrel painted, I just want some designs air brushed on it. He will clear coat the whole barrel to protect the air brush so I'm not too concerned with it coming off.
I just wanted to see if anyone has expirence painting a barrel and what they use to protect the inside. I will look into stuffing the barrel with paper towels.

run some painters tape on the inside of the barrel. Its kinda a trick to drop the tape thru without having it stick where you dont want it but you only have to do it once Then when its done pull a squeegee thru to make sure its seated right.

That's a cool idea. Never tried that. Thin painters tape I assume :-)

Could also just stuff an old redz in there if you got one.

you'll have to plug the inside of each porting hole as well, since getting ANY paint at all inside the ports will make the air exit your barrel at an irregular rate, changing the flight of the ball.
Honestly, just get another barrel if you want a different colour.

I was finally able to get it to my air brusher. I should be getting it back any day now. I ended up buying a Deadly Winds barrel so I gave him that one instead of the Stiffi. I will post some pics as soon as I get it back!

I just spoke to my air brusher and he's having some issues. The barrel is so small that any detailed design might not look very good. It's hard to get detailed designs when you only have the size of a quarter to work with. He's trying and I should have it back with something or nothing by tuesday/wednesday this week.
