Perfect comparison in regards to price and fuel mileage.

Yep. Everyone that wants to buy an f150 should step up to an f250 to get that engine.

Because 'Murica.

Base model vs. fully loaded isn't a comparison. Work truck vs. DD for the casual tow'er.

That's funny, quick search and I found 6.7 4x4 Supercabs in the same price range. Now it's no Lariat, but it is far from base. Try again?

Logic in here is nonsensical. For around 35K you can buy the "Eco"Boost or a 6.7 litre, correct? They average just about the same fuel mileage, the 6.7 has more HP and almost double the TQ. What logical reasoning is there to purchase the 150 over the 250? It is also noticeably less expensive to get more power/fuel mileage out of the diesel.

Reasons? Anyone?

Comparing the two you can pick up a base model Ecoboost for $24,00 and a 6.7L for $29,000. Unless you're comparing the exact model and options between the two it's a useless comparison. The price difference nets you 400lbs in the bed and 4,000lbs towing. If you DD the truck and don't need to tow something more than 9,000lbs there's no reason to step up to the diesel with prices the way they are. 87 all day and 93 when you tow if you're worried about the performance.

That's all I wanted, Thank you.

Now when you have the need to tow something of substantial weight, you may wish you went with the 6.7.

Towed with my 85 Chev the other day, granny gear made it a little better, still turned around and hooked it up to the 7.3 instead.

I'm not sure if you have ever been to california. But the cost of owning a diesel is damn near double that of owning a 1/2ton.

With that said I still want a diesel to toy my toys.

Only thing that costs more on my diesel is insurance, still under $100 a month with low deductibles.

Never been to Cali, Dont know anyone in Cali

In my area, which is very diesel friendly, gas is on average 30-50 cents cheaper per gallon. To service a diesel is around double. Even if you do it yourself. The registration is around 1.5x that of a gas 1/2 ton. Insurance is usually quite a bit more but it all depends on the driver.

doing your own work is unrelatable to the average consumer, Diesels are definitely more expensive to own.

Very subjective, my experience with diesels in regards to amount of issues and repairs, is far less than gas engine trucks.

That's also very user dependent.

There are many reason to chose an f150 ecoboost over the bigger brother f250 turbo diesel XLT model. I didnt want to spend an extra 10k on a truck for certain (see below), If price was not an issue i would of purchased the SVT Raptor in stead. I chose the f150 ecoboost because it fits my lifestyle, i tow a 23 ft boat and a few other toy trailers. I live in California where prices differ from other parts of the country. The Ecoboost is a great truck, has not given me any issues, but time will tell if it will hold up to be as great as an F-model ford truck will do. Another reason why i went with the ecoboost is the price of diesel in California, its more expensive than 87 octane.

price diff for the same model is almost identical, especially here in Southern California for the turbo diesel....also, does not include other options as well...which will increase the price.
