I'm really happy with how this offseason is progressing for the yankees. Getting youk, resigning kuroda and pettite and I believe they're close on getting ichiro for another year.
If they can get hamilton I'll poop

I doubt they'll sign Hamilton, just saying.
I don't see the Yankees as a team that is just gonna spend whatever the **** they feel like on the FA market anymore.

I still don't have a real big clue as to why we're pursuing Hamilton or Upton. Hamilton is going to be overpriced, injury prone and inconsistent. Don't know a lot about Upton but we have Cruz, Murph, and Gentry in the outfield now.

Because if our whole team was Murphy/Gentry type players we'd be average. That's what they are, average players.

David Murphy: .304 avg, 15 HR, 61 RBI, .380 OBP
Craig Gentry: .304 avg, 1 HR, 26 RBI, 13 SB, and .367 OBP
Not to mention Gentry still has some experience to gain and both were splitting time. I think Murphy could be a .300 guy, ~25 HRs, solid defense type of guy for a lot less than Hamilton.

I like murphy a lot as well. He'll be an everyday player before Gentry, just like last year. I'm just saying you need big bats throughout a lineup to cleanup the runners on base. and Gentry is the furthest thing from a big bat possible lol

I'd rather not get Hamilton. If we did sign him it would be for more than he's worth, and for more years than I'd want. I doubt Cashman would sign him for long enough that it would turn into another A Rod fiasco, but it would probably end up like that for the last year or so of his deal.

Two issues:
1. They have a desperate need for middle infield help and are willing to gamble. They've already tried to get Andrus, Profar, Cabrera, and Simmons. No luck.
2. They don't like Bauer's long toss. Basically, Bauer and some other young pitchers have a completely different approach to pitching then has been taught in the last ten years. Their long toss is 3 and 4 times the distance and just as often. The Dbacks pitching staff doesn't like it, so Bauer is the odd man out after the McCarthey signing.
I agree with you though. Looks like the Indians got a steal. I really wanted the Nationals to try and get him. I would have offered Lombardozzi straight up or Espinosa for Bauer and a small piece.
DBacks got so littel out of it. Reds got rid of Stubs and got Choo. I expect Billy Hamilton to get called up and play CF, though in that park, Choo could probably be all right.
All in all, good deal for the Reds, potentially great deal for the Indians, and only a decent to above average deal if Didi Gregorius can learn to hit at the MLB level.

Hamilton is going to the Angels.

LOL RANGERS
Also, maybe this means the Dodgers can trade a couple of their backend starting pitchers for Mark Trumbo or Peter Bourjos.

They need to figure out a way to get Trumbo at third. Put him through some sort of clinic or something. Seems like a waste to make Bourjos a fourth outfielder

Angels need a frontline starter, not a back end starter. They have Jared Weaver, CJ Wilson, and .... ? Not a whole lot.
Bourjos for Dickey, straight up. Actually, I think Trumbo should be traded. I don't see him improving a whole lot. He's got pop, but will be stuck at first or LF.

They don't need a frontline starter, Jared Weaver is one of the best aces in the league.
This makes sense but man that's a lot of money. Seems like an arms race out in LA at this point. I think the Angels just felt like they had to do something when they missed out in Greinke, and they're in the middle of a giant territory war for the LA market with the Dodgers.
Speaking of Greinke, it was a smart move on his part going to the Dodgers. Not only is the money he's getting more than he's worth, but he'll get to further perpetuate the illusion that he's a top tier pitcher by beating up on the pitiful NL West hitters.

Yea, they do. Weaver is an ace, but Wilson is a number 3 and the rest of their starters are unknowns and/or fodder.
I think this also makes it so Texas is willing to deal Andrus or Profar. Though, now they may be obsessing over David Price.

I don't know if it gets better than Beltre/Hamilton, but Pujols is the best bet behind him
