Alex Meyer (Nationals prospect) hit 98 MPH on the gun in the Futures Games. He's hit triple digits before.

In three years, it's entirely possible the Nationals will have three starters who can throw 100 mph in their rotation (Strasburg, Meyer, Lucas Giolito)

Cain named the starter for the NL

Pitching should go like this:

Cain
Dickey
Strasburg

NL pitches a combined no hitter

Josh Hamilton takes Cain deep. Breaks up no hitter in the first.

Who do yall think wins the HR derby tonight? I think it's either Fielder or Kemp.

Someone explain to me why Kemp is not healthy enough to play for the Dodgers but is healthy enough to hit in the home run derby

Just move him to first base already ...

I personally would prefer a pitchers home run derby.

Mike Leake, Madison Bumgarner, Zambrano, etc..

Get those good ol' boys out there.

No, I get that. But if he isn't healthy enough to play in regular season games, he shouldn't be playing in an exhibition.

Hey hey hey... They're turning it on right now. WORLD SERIES BOUND!

Seriously we need to keep this **** up and Young needs to keep doing what he's doing. 4 homers in 4 straight games is definitely a big boost to our offense. It took the Tigers until the second half of last season to turn it on, so maybe they'll do the same now.

lol, they're going to get better until August, when they shut down Strasburg and start to limit Zimmermann's innings.

Only one I've heard is Alex Meyer for Denard Span. I wouldn't mind it, but we'd have to figure out where to play Mike Morse and Adam Laroche.

I think if they're serious about shutting SS down, they need to make a trade for Garza or Dempster. Rizzo keeps saying that whatever he does will be a long term move. Personally, I don't think they will make a major move unless they can trade LaRoche or Morse.

I don't know. If they're in the middle of a division race and still in the lead, they'd be stupid to shut him down.

They're shutting him down. They've already comitted to this. Frankly, I don't blame them. We're talking about a guy who is Justin Verlander type Ace. The guy you expect to go out there and dominate other teams. But he ends up with TJ surgery. They need to be careful about how they treat him. 160 or so innings is part of the rehab. And because they did it with Jordan Zimmermann and have gotten such great results, they're going to stick with it.

The Nationals aren't expecting to make a run or two. They're trying to build a dynasty. A team like the 90s Braves that could compete year in and year out. That's why they suffered through so many crappy seasons. It's why they've concentrated on building a great farm system. A system that got them Gio Gonzalez and has brought up some quality bench/role players (Espinosa, Lombo, Moore, Flores, Solano, Bernadina).

If they risk that now by pushing Strasburg, it'll be for nothing. And honestly, I don't think the baseball gods will forgive them. Look what they've done to the Cubs for destroying Mark Prior and Kerry Wood. And you could argue it wasn't even the Cubs fault.

I'd rather miss the playoffs this year and know that Strasburg will be competing for a Cy Young for the next 5 or so seasons.

The problem with the cubs was that their inept management kept blowing their wad every season trying to "win now".

Eh, that was after. I'm talking about the way Prior and Wood got abused and ended up ending their careers early.
