I know exactly what you mean. I used a fugly Adrenalin LCD during the 2003 PSP and it was beat to hell. The anodizing was worn off in places and had random colored parts, but it reliably shot ropes every single practice and tourney. It was used by a pro team and that one guy TimeBomb used to own it. The gun had Warped Sportz LA's eye system which was cool bc it kept the stock lcd board.

The ano is worn off where the blue looks like it is catching light:
