I know. It's the shadow output of the Nikon sensor. That's the only thing I can think of. You can push the crap out of them without much noise at all. Also the DR seems a bit better. And when I hit clarity it doesn't give me the oversharpened edges like Canon does. The files (even .jpg) are just different. I should go back and process a RAW from a canon file to see if that's what it really is.

I wouldn't be surprised...I experience everything you're mentioning with my 7D....over-sharpening with upped clarity and plenty of noise if I push the shadows. I just live with it. As for DR, I've always felt Nikons were better at this.

yah, the contrast on the canon files get wonky with too much clarity. With Nikon I can push and push and only at the extremes do I get that "outline" look on subjects. Also, greens are easier to manipulate without much problem with skin tone. I like the Nikon files better. I haven't shot much with the crop camera though so I'm not sure about it. I just have it as a backup in case something happens or if I want to do video.

I'm pretty excited about the next wedding I'm doing. Instead of doing couple photos on the day of they are going to get dressed up in the dress and tux the day after the wedding and we are going to go out a couple of hours before sunset. So like 2 solid hours with them and they are a semi-cute couple. Hello portfolio.

Didn't do bad, could have used a speedlite on the last one to stop down the ambient.

It was a fairly simple shoot, but I enjoyed it.

Just to rub it in spork's face more. Snagged a mint D300 for $400 from Adorama. The rating was an F with the comments being "screen haze". There's absolutely zero haze, body is in excellent shape, and only has 12k shutter count.

Ah, the ZX. What a classy piece of 90's machinery. I wanted one so badly in my younger days, they were so much more accessible than the R-34 GT-R I lusted for.
