Good laptop for $300-$400?
Anybody know of a good laptop for around 3-400 bucks? My cousin has an acer aspire 4339-2618 that he's able to play wow and minecraft and everything without any lagging at all, even when has a lot of programs running at the same time. I looked for it online and I was able to find a update version of it at Walmart for 325.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Acer-Mesh-...ption/19714381
Does anybody know of any really good laptops that can handle powerful programs that aren't real expensive?

Does it have to be a laptop? You'll get more bang for your buck with a desktop.
You're not going to find a "really good" laptop for ~$300.

You're wasting your time mostly. Laptops in that price range may be able to play those two games you said, but will still struggle, especially when a lot is going on in game.
If you really want to do it, you probably need to spend at least $550-$600 on a laptop for that, find one with and actual video card, probably be more than $600.
Or do what makes sense, build a desktop. If you're frugal about it, you could build a desktop that can ably play those games for $500 or less, no monitor though.
I managed to build a desktop, low end but better than that laptop you posted, for $185.

For under $500, most people would be better off getting a tablet or building a cheap desktop.

Both are a substantial upgrade from the one you linked originally. They're running a full power i3, not a ultra-low voltage i3 nor Celeron chip, and has the new GPU integration for more gaming performance. Gaming performance is still a relative consideration, but will be noticeably better suited than the one you linked.

I bought that laptop a couple weeks ago because I'm going on a long trip to Europe and I still want to be able to play my games while travelling. I haven't used it too much yet (haven't really needed to), but I tested Tribes: Ascend and Minecraft on it and both play quite well, I'd imagine there's not a game out there it couldn't handle on medium-low. It cost me $450 before rebate, I guess tigerdirect is sold out on that laptop right now (I'm sure it's selling quickly). The key is the dual video cards, which is rare for such a cheap laptop. It maybe be a hair more than you were looking to spend but the extra $50-100 will go a long way.

While I agree that that laptop is very well spec'd for the price (IMO) what makes you think it has two video cards?

My understanding is that it has a "Radeon HD 6520g + 7670m", which I take to be dual video cards (the latter being the better one obviously). I don't actually know if this is how it works or if it impacts performance though, I'm not as up to date on hardware as I used to be and especially not mobile hardware. Either way I'm glad I have it.

That is it's only graphics chip.

maybe I'm going blind but I don't see any mention of a 6520g anyways. Even assuming it did have both, they wouldn't work together like SLI or Crossfire to begin with. It doesn't really make sense to mismatch cards like that unless one is dedicated to CAD or PhysX or something similar, and even then neither one of those cards would be particularly useful for that.

The 6520 is the igpu on the A6. Not sure how that comes into play when there's also an external GPU.

Oh, derp. Forgot about that CPU video technology.
It's probably for battery life, if you switch it to the CPU video I assume it uses slightly less power.
It doesn't use both at the same time.

We don't have to have one, but it's either that or go wait in the computer lab for half the class to wait for an open computer, then work for 20 minutes and have to leave. That, and I want a laptop for personal use as well.

That's the first laptop I linked to in the first post. Except for Walmart has it for $328. It's basically the laptop my cousin has but with windows 7 and an updated processor. As stated in first post, he runs minecraft, WoW, and other fps's and mmos without a hiccup.
