Was I wrong to do this?

I was reffing on Sunday and a guy had a very obvious hit on his hopper so i ran over to call him out and he started arguing with me but he had a very thick Indian accent so i couldn't understand him. So after about 20 seconds I grabbed his gun (it was a rental) and sent him to my boss to decide whether or not he would stay. Was i in the wrong to do this?

You were right .. I wouldn't have took the rental though ..

I couldn't get him off the field he kept trying to argue and he just stayed where he was

He was enraged because you ruined the practice of hit terrorist tactics.
On another note, you weren't in the wrong. I would have done the same except I wouldn't have taken the marker.

He was probably upset because he thought gun hits shouldnt count. Especially if there is a language barrier he probably didnt understand the rules even after the safety orientation (assuming your boss gives one). Either way making your boss aware of the situation is always a good choice. If you felt safety was an issue taking the rental marker is smart...never second guess yourself because at one point or another it was done for a reason. Being perfect is boring anyway, i tried it for a day and didnt like it much.
