I agree, but can we go back to the NEIC and SACC/SEC like it was a couple of years ago? Spring semester the conference had pretty much dissolved and was back to the way it used to be.

Not sure which conference we fall into any more, but we want to host The Liberty Open in late Sept/early October.

we (KSU) still plan on remaining in A primarily, but we should be participating in AA still depending on locations. probably 1-2 events.

Let's get this started. It's 1 month til the semester starts. Who has the list of last seasons standings SI we know who is in line for hosting? Stephen maybe?
Let's get these schools thinking about dates and locations.

I'll look up MSCC scores tomorrow and do what I can about contacting possible host schools.

And maybe we can keep tge MSCC but also include the Florida schools. I miss those guys.

We can schedule an event or two further south (i.e. into Georgia or northern Florida) to help cut down on everyone's travel time.

We've missed you all too. I say just return it to the title of SEC, but in all reality it is just a title, so it really doesn't matter.

I dislike that we lost you guys in the split, but love that we picked up VCU and ECU.

The top 4 schools I saw from MSCC and out of the Florida schools (whatever you all called yourself) are:

GSU
FGCU
LIBERTY
ECU

And I think as a 5th it was Georgia tech... But I'll double check that in a minute. I vote the northern schools get fall semester so the spring (colder) can have the southern states.

I'll contact all you tomorrow.

In that order.

I could see a Liberty Event in late September, and maybe a NC/SC event in late October/early November
Thoughts?
Then a GA event in February?

Those were my thoughts. I'll call Stephen at ECU today and see if he can get the planning started.

How's everyone else looking?

ECU showed interest in an event around Halloween. Liberty has claimed September. Lets try and get this semester planned.

After talking to Alex, ECU would absolutely love to host an event near Halloween.

I'm working on putting together a list of "standings" from last season based on the MSCC as it was in 2011-2012.

As far as realignment/naming of a new conference, and conference directors, I'm not exactly sure how everything will shake out. I will be a part-time senior next semester, and will be done by the time Spring rolls around, but until official decision are made I'm happy to continue acting as the director of the MSCC to help for planning purposes and facilitating discussion.

In the way of changing the conference, an idea that seems like a good one to me falls out this way:

* 1 conference in the south east region (maybe VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, west a state or two for schools like EKU, TN schools, and Alabama schools)
* 2 divisions (north and south)
* 2 people to work on planning events--one for each division of the conference
* 6 (or more) events total in the conference, with 4 per division--2 overlapping that will sort of bring the divisions together twice per season

This way, it doesn't leave the entire region with only 4 events, teams don't have to travel 900 miles for regular season play, it won't place the burden of scheduling a ton of events on a single person, and teams can compete in whatever 4 events that are closest, plus Nats, to make up their final-season score (of 5 events).

Thoughts?

So essentially, 2 events up north (VA, carolinas, etc) for the 'northern' division.

2 events down south, in FL for the Florida division (think you all can stick together for just 2 events)

And 2 events in a central location (like ATL) for the conferences to meet.

And your score is comprised of your 2 events in your division and the 2 shared events....

Am I understanding that correctly? When explaining it like that it sounds difficult. But it's a simple concept

That's the way I see it. And there's no reason there can't be 3 events further north, 3 events south, and 2 events shared. I think sharing two events is a good idea, and having at least 4 scores for each division is a good idea, beyond that, having more events isn't a bad thing as long as you aren't flooding your conference and hurting your turnout of participating teams.

And for those of you wondering, here's standings as per the National rankings, of schools with 2 or more MSCC or SACC scores. (plus some that I'll note at the bottom of the post)

1. Georgia State (4 MSCC scores)
2. FGCU (2 MSCC, 2 SACC scores)
3. Liberty (2 MSCC scores)
4. ECU (4 MSCC scores)
5. VTech (3 MSCC scores)
6. Georgia Tech (4 MSCC scores)
7. Kennesaw (3 MSCC scores)
8. Embry-Riddle (2 SACC scores)
9. EKU (2 MSCC scores)
10. Clemson (3 MSCC scores)
11. UCF (2 SACC scores)
12. FSU (3 SACC scores) (this one is kind of confusing because they're listed 3 different times for the events they played)
13. VCU (2 MSCC scores)
14. Missouri University of Science and Technology (2 MSCC scores)

And now the confusing part, schools that should be in the region but had only 1 (or no) MSCC/SACC scores, and their original standings if the list included them:

9. USF (1 SACC)
12. GA Southern (0 MSCC/SACC)
15. UNC Charlotte (1 MSCC)
17. High Point (1 MSCC)
18. ETSU (1 MSCC, played Class A at Nationals)
19. George Mason (1 MSCC)
20. UF Gators (1 SACC, Class A at Natinoals)
21. FAU (1 SACC, Class A at Nationals)
