Speaking of ranger school...my commander was pushing for some of our guys to go. I spoke with him about it for about an hour while doing SSD1 and he told me a lot of funny *** stories. I gained quite a bit more respect for him after that little talk.

Why not? I was pretty happy with it, get to do a little combat arms for my LT years and then get transferred to a profession that has transfer equivalencies to the civilian sector.

Of course majority of my cadre are/have been FA officers.

Cause FA is full of fat lazy ****s that think they are 'combat'.

http://www.goarmy.com/careers-and-jo...y-officer.html

If it's open to women, it's not combat arms.

Wow, tell us how you really feel about Redlegs Duff. And for the record I wouldn't consider us "combat arms" because we are CS. But we are def more 'combat' than anybody in CSS.

What do you guys think of the early retirement offer? I read the times report and think it's bull ****. The only people who qualify are getting booted if I read it right. No offence but if you are being booted because you suck they shouldn't give you a retirement. It's like saying "well you're a **** bag and we don't want you serving anymore so we can either run separation paperwork on you OR you can take an early retirement and get paid for life"

You aren't an officer and you can't deny the fat part though. There is an exception to the rule, but I think it's few and far between. It's kinda like tankers or MP's that say they are infantry because they leave the wire, but have very little experience or training outside of their tank.

Edit: That fine line for retirement is sketchy at around 17 years. It would be wise to go indef at year 14-15 just to make sure.

I think the HT/WT battle is waged across all MOS's and all branches, not just in the FA community . But yeah we do have some guys that I just shake my head and wonder. The saddest part is I see more of them in the 13M world and I'm like where the hell were these guys back when we were lifting trails on the 155's?

Quick question...I'm interested in Combat Medic (68W) and was wondering if you can volunteer for certain deployments, like ones that wouldn't require you to sit in a hospital as a nurse type role. I've got an EMT-B and I'm interested but don't wanna get stuck in some military hospital drawing blood when I could do more **** as a civilian.

Yes you can volunteer to go on deployments providing 1. The deploying unit has slots to fill and 2. Your chain of command approves your transfer.

I'm one of the few people in the MEB here that's not gotten overweight and out of shape.

How are people getting so fat. So many fat NCOs and every officer gains a few pounds too. Surrounded by fatties

This is at an IN BN too. Even over on Kelley Hill I see fatties left and right.

I'm aware Sir. You'd think an ID would have some in shape people but NOPE.

Also, gonna go scrap my lil crossed rifles sticker off my rear windshield this weekend. Officially DQ'd as 11X.

EDIT: Local appeal denied, case being sent to PEB.

That's the difference between a mech unit and a light unit. And I can't believe you had that sticker to begin with without finishing IBOLC... Tisk tisk.

Lol bro, some dudes plaster their cars, licenses plates and windows with massive INFANTRY stickers. Mine was tiny, just proud to have branched it.

Some dudes even hang a blue cord on their mirror before finishing. **** that.
