Second, more money needs to be put into the field as well as some of the areas be opened up more. It would be better for the Germans if the Allies are more spread out (like the airbourne units which have been rumored to be scattered at the beginning of the game for the last two years). Being an Allied airbourne player, it was not a contest for us against the German opposition. It was as if there were no Germans out on the field on Sunday.

Finally... recruit, recruit, recruit. Last year was somewhat of a disappointment in terms of the turnout. 2007 was probably the best turnout I have seen ever in my time at D-Day. I know times are hard and the event turnouts have dipped lower and lower in the last several years, but I could not sacrifice this event from calender... ever. No matter what, I make sure that D-Day week is always in my budget. I cannot dream myself missing out on this... the best week of the year!
I completely agree with you on how the Airborne is handled, i love the 101st and cant imagine joining another unit but after only 2 years in the AB I am becoming bored. We have not seen as much action as I expected, however I will say the off field commraderie and friendships I have established are amazing!

You can expect more on the field for the 101st in 2013 for sure. The game is changing and I'm sure the promoter will use us to our full potential.

Our numbers will also shrink some so register early!

Don't get me wrong I have had a blast on the field. Maybe its just because we are so damn good, running through the Germans is easy for us!

Soldiers Of Paint

Here's an advanced look at "Soldiers of Paint," the
story about what goes on behind the scenes during
the months leading up to D-Day. Please support
the work these two intrepid videophotographers
are doing by donating to the cause. Look for this
film to become available some time towards this
Christmas.

Enjoy,

D-day Armor

Anyone who tries to tell you that the game they're going to
is cool because they're going to have tanks better be talking
about The Oklahoma D-Day Event, otherwise they're just
blowing smoke. This past June's D-Day event brought out
close to 30 tanks and planes. 30, that's way more than you
are apt to see at ION, LL and West Point combined. What's
more these guys have learned how to work as teams, that's
something unheard of when it comes to tanks and paintball.

Check out this teaser clip by Big Joe, owner of a pair of mini
Sherman tanks that can swim if need be to reach the enemy.

Got a tank? WHat are you waiting for, sign up for the fight
of your life.

Enjoy!

Want to hook up with some of our players, but you don't
want to wait till next June, then head over to Training Day
VIII "Act of Valor" game at Fox Paintball on September 16.

Our 502 MP unit will be joining Camo Joe (German Armor)
and some other D-Day players there.

Appeal

Less than two weeks to go. Please consider contributing to our
campaign – even a $10 contribution is huge for us, because it
keeps the momentum going and encourgages others to contribute
as well. And the closer we get to our goal, the sooner we can get
“Soldiers of Paint” available to everyone to see.

Thank you for your support!

CEF armor invite

Check out the Baker Tank.

It's a maroon van with gun ports out the sides. Just
grab your ego, jump in, and enjoy racking up triple
digit kills.

See you in the CEF!

Commonwealth 6th Para

Here's the second segment featuring members of
the Commonwealth's 6th Para unit back in June.

Note the constant chatter with TOC and the rest
of the Allied units. Communications is KEY in any
scenario, especially one this large.

d-Day flashback

Chris Neighbor's one of our Allied Army players posted this look back
at D-Day 2012, to help illustrate the sort of action he encountered
over the course of the day.

Rermember, D-Day for these guys starts well before 0600 and goes
till game over, which is typically at 1700. No breaks for lunch and
close to 1,000 acres filled with Germans. Want a part of this next
June, sign up early.

Enjoy!

Call to Arms

Calling all Allied Army players and those who'd
like to link up with us.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FYI,
Just wanted to let everyone know about a scenario
game coming up on September 22 in Clarksville, AR
at 'Crossroads Paintball.' The game will be "Omaha
Beach."
There will be at least one tank (Das Buzzard). We
are looking for another tank or AT guys who want
to play for the Allied side. AT/tank rules will be the
same as the D-day rules. $20 entry includes all day
air. There will be two grades of paint available & can
be purchased by the case (2000) or by the bag (500).
$55/$15 or $45/$12 (case/bag). You can get fore
info & waivers, directions etc at:
crossroadspaintballfield.com
Let me know if anyone is interested in being an AT
gunner or willing to bring a tank to play Allied!
Have a good one!
Michael Copeland
rides
For some time now one of the highlights for many D-Day
attendees has been to take a ride on the helicopter that
shows up. Here's a ride captured during this year's event.
Enjoy!
Listen up, the Allied Army is looking for new recruits and one of
the places we'll be looking is out in New York during this fall's
next West Point event. If you'd like to check us out, hook up
with Eric Engler, long time supporter of the West Point event,
as well as Commanding General for the 101st Airborne Divsion
during D-Day.
Thanks again for checking the thread and for keeping up to
date on what's going on out there in Oklahoma.
Sincerely,
Cef
(Reposted from D-Day Forum)
I have been with the Commonwealth for the past 2 years now
and I can say from experience now that we are one of the hardest
hitting, most organized units on the field, not just at D-Day but
anywhere.
The "Special Forces" friday game at D-Day 2012 was a great
example of this. Even though we were limited in numbers (due
to rules of the game) we literally rolled up one side of the field
and down the other crushing all the opposition. Orders came in
like this "Ok CEF go here do such n such"... "Ok we got the
objective"... "Ok CEF go here do such n such"... "Ok we got the
objective" over and over. Unit cohesion is top notch. All that aside,
CEF has some of the most *ahem* interesting people you will ever
meet, and being made up from people all over the world you get
some pretty great campfire stories going. Never a dull moment
with the CEF, plus we are not a D-Day only unit, so join up, play
with us across the country, or play with us across the world all
year round. For anyone interested in joining hit us up at Fulda
Gap in November to see what we are about and how we operate.
We will have a solid presence at D-Day 2013 and are looking for
new recruits! There is also a France event around the same dates
that some of us (myself included) will be attending, so join up now
and dont miss out on any of these events!
2011 Utah Beach 0900hrs
Here's one of those clips that really brings home the
intensity that comes with D-Day. This one shows the
members of the 4th Infantry Division as they hit the
beach...
BTW, the 4th ID is looking for some more players to
help them take this beach next June. If you've got the
guts and determination, there's no better unit than the
4th.
Sincerely,
Soldiers Of Paint Update
"Soldiers of Paint" BREAKING NEWS!!!
First of all, if you're unfamiliar with "Soldiers of Paint", it's a documentary film we have been
making about Oklahoma D-Day for the last five years.
For more info and a preview clip click here > http://www.soldiersofpaint.com/
Now for the news: Last week we completed a deal with First Run Features for North American
distribution. First Run Features is one of the pre-eminent distributors of independent films and
documentaries in the country. Their roster includes such notable films as "Circo", "The Man
Nobody Knew", "The Twilight Samurai", "Bhutto", "The Trials of Henry Kissinger", "Ballerina",
"49 UP", and "A Jihad for Love". They have extensive experience distributing feature-length
documentaries and love our film, so we are have landed in very good hands. In fact, they are
a company we had identified years ago as our "dream" company to partner with. Welp, the
dream has come true.
Ok, so what does this deal mean? This means the film will be available on DVD and likely several
digital outlets for download, which may include Amazon, iTunes, Netflix, and Hulu. FRF will also
be seeking a broadcast deal with a cable network. When will it be available? We just had a conversation
with them yesterday about a release date. They are keen to time the release with the real D-Day
anniversary as well as the 2013 Oklahoma D-Day, so the film will be released in May. We'll post
here the instant it becomes available.
This has been a long road for us and we couldn't have done it without you guys - the OKDDAY c
ommunity. Your support and patience helped keep us going along the way. We couldn't be more
thrilled with the news and hope you are, too. So give yourselves a pat on the back because, by
golly, we made it!
