Bunker Updates

I wanted to share the reply I just received from Ed Covey, regards to
how things stand right now.

1. We will not be offering fire Rings as it would be impossible to know
how many to have and most campsites as large as our make you bring
them other than state parks and we don't have tax dollars to inflate or
work with so that is out. No Rock Rings for sure! We will be doing a
video on ways to make simple fire rings. and Units can make and sell
them all they want! I think the first ID will be selling them also from
cut 50 gallon drums.

2. First Strike rounds will be there at the very least through VALKEN,
so I am not worried about that.

3. No one has contacted us about securing a booth for the SAR-12 and
I assume it is because they would have to pay for that, although I did
hear that Sonny would be onsite playing so I assume he has an in with
a vendor.

4. Meetings are coming together soon and Adrian and I have started to
button up our Ref Training dates....That basically means that we are
pretty much done with the game and the Audibles so we can now train
the staff!

5. We will have 3-training days and 3 work days with the staff.

6. I have added a Game Staff of my own other than refs that basically
is not on the field but rather runs structure from our HQ. These guys
will be in charge of all orientations as well as movement and Audible
Distribution, troop movement, and things like water and paint on the
field etc..etc..etc..So basically they are my arms and legs this year.

That is were we are at and focusing mostly on Red Dawn Occupation
at the moment and getting some new young leaders out there for
battle. RED DAWN OCCUPATION takes place April 21-23

CEF Commander Sir Ray

Today we're going to tell you a little bit about a pretty special paintball
person.

Ray Adams is the man who created a paintball team 10 or so years ago,
specifically for the Oklahoma D-Day game. That team is called the CEF.
The CEF has grown arms and legs and is officially recognised by the
Guinness World Records as the biggest paintball team in the world. That
in itself means nothing until you become part of that team, and you
realise it is something very special indeed.

The CEF have members all over the world. Even in the UK, at least 50
players count themselves as part of the Maroon Machine and you can
be pretty much anywhere in the world and needing a bed and someone
in the CEF will come to your aid. I know because it's happened to me.

About 2 years ago, the CEF began to become in games away from D-Day.
At this point, the entire enterprise could have split, fractured and died,
but that period actually resulted in the making of the CEF as a truly global
phenomena and secured its future for ever. In such circumstances lesser
men would hang on to the project they had given birth to would jealously
guard it, dig their heels in to maintain their own position but not Ray
Adams.

It is the mark of a genuinely inspirational leader who can see something
they've given birth to grow and grow without the need to feel like they
want to maintain total control.

The CEF is an extraordinary paintball story that not many know. Lots see
the maroon T-shirts......but few now what it's all about.

Ladies and gentlemen, I invite you to raise your glasses to someone
who has been a genuine inspiration to me personally and someone who
does more for the game of paintball outside of this project than you
possibly imagine.

Mr Ray Adams. On such people are our wonderful game built.

I salute you sir!

Tim Barnett
Shoreline Paintball, UK
https://www.facebook.com/ShorelineOutdoor

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Personally I'd like to vouch for everything Tim has
said. A few years ago I needed help getting some
of our TOC's comupter systems up and running, so
I asked Sir Ray if he could spare someone to help.
In just a few moments I had 3 computer literate
members of his unit over there connecting things
up. If you've never been to D-Day before, you
might consider joining one of Ray's CEF units.
I assure you, you'll come away with a totally new
attitude about the sport as well as with a group of
friends you'll always be able to turn to when the
chips are down.
Sincerely,
If you would like to be in a unit that doesn't make you stand at parade rest, guarding the port-o-potties, then feel free to shoot me a PM and I'll link you up with a German unit.
your parade shenanigans have nothing on the GJs. nothing at all good sir. same goes for mascots, and the much, much, more portion. Gj's are pretty much the cesspool where all fun and shenanigans spew forth from in a fiery ball of extreme fun, belched forth from the bowels of insanity, all while sitting at the base of a campfire performing viking burials to those worthy enough because thats how we roll.
GJs: 1000000 1st Infantry:.........0
Roll with the GJs if your looking for an insane time having fun and making glorious leaps into the mouth of hell itself only to come back victorious. all the while having as much fun as you can stand. and we have cake..... lots of cake........ and the BananaMan.....
the cake is not a lie this time
So, Nate, I'm guessing you're about ready for your tour to finish so you can get back here & unload that pent up energy?
How many people consider themselves officially members of the commonwealth team (not just people who are signed into the unit)? The IYAOYAS boast over 300 worldwide, and that's a few, IMHO. BTW, anyone know if there are any still in the CW or have they all moved over to the GJs & the 6th now?
Despite any recent posts you may have seen which
allude to the idea that my German counterparts
know how to have more fun than the Allies do, or
that your fate, if you elect to join the allies, means
having to salute every latrine or polishing your boots
before morning inspection is merely their way of
trying to convince you that they're the guys who
RREALLY know how to have fun.
Do some of us dress up in period uniforms, yes
of course, just as some Germans do. Why do
we do that? Mostly it's to show respect and to
also honor those soldiers, on both sides, who
fought for what they believed. People like Enos
Armstrong, Dewayne's grandfather and the late
Jake McNiece, who served with the 101st AB.
Does this mean we're also a bunch of salute
happy, gung-ho types? Hardly, but it certainly
does make for some good fiction.
Books
Before they ever come to D-Day some players have
some interest in learning about what went on that
lead up to the D-Day invasion.
Sadly schools today don't spend much if any time on
this topic, so on the D-Day Forum site I and others
have been posting information on a list of books which
offer readers a chance to make up for that. Here's the
post I just put up, which talks about something the
German Airborne did which in turn had a big impact on
things during the early part of the war.
~~~~~~

While out this morning for my weekly produce run to
a local flea/produce market I stumbled across a near
perfect copy of a book by WW II US veteran Army Col.
James E. Mrazek, ret'd. entitled "The Fall of Eban Emael."

This book tells the story of how just 78 members of the
German Airborne managed to capture the fort, which was
a keystone in the Allied defense of Belgium.

Copies of this book can be found on line for as little
as 2.50.
ISBN 0-89141-1

~~~~~~~~
PS This author also wrote several more books, including one
that talks bout Airborne Glider operations, as well as another
entitled "The Art Of Winning Wars"
If you'd like to review the rest of the titles we've listed,
click this link >
http://forums.ddayadventurepark.com/...71-Book-Revies
Enjoy!
perhaps you would like to explain why we saw commonwealth guards standing at parade rest in front of the public latrines nearest their camp site?
CrazyHarry,
I can't explain what you witnessed. For all I know
they were guarding them while female members of
the unit used them? Suggest the next time you've
Oh, that would have required me walking into their camp. The last time one of my guys even attempted to walk down the road next to their camp, they were threatened by 4 members of the CW to be, violently, removed from the area. You'll have to excuse me if I don't go into their camp to ask them ANYTHING.
Some people like to have fun, and some people have a really weird definition of "shenanigans."
shenanigans
Well, seems I've gotten the same sort of cold
reception every time I've attempted to walk
into your camp, so I guess my advice would
be to just ignore whatever it is they're doing
and go play your goofy shenanigans on one
another.
BTW, what would you do if I decided to just
walk into your camp unannounced? It's a
camp I know, but to the CEF as well as a lot
of other units I can think of, on both sides,
it's also their home for the week.
Sincerely,
Sincerely,
It's my argument that the road isn't a part of their campsite. They have closed it down because a couple of their members choose to camp in what should be a parking area next to the telephone pole. Keep in mind that the road next to the helipad is shut down as well. This causes problems for Germans that camp in the south west side of the camping area every year. You guys don't care about it, despite our complaints, because it causes problems for Germans, not Allies. IMO, any unit that includes a road as part of their "home" is mistaken, and going out of their way to start a conflict.
Here's what happened, Daniel's (my Sgt. Major) wife didn't know how to exit the campground, so he road with her to the bathrooms. When he got out, he realized that he didn't have any shoes on. He didn't want to walk on the gravel road, for obvious reasons, instead he elected to walk on the dirt road (where he SHOULD be able to walk, regardless). A member of CW approached him with a flashlight, he told them who he was, why he wanted to walk down the road, what unit he was with, offered to be escorted down the road... the guard called for a couple buddies, who came over yelled and threatened him. He eventually, relented, and took the painful walk down the gravel road. I'm sure you know about this incident, because we ran it up the flag pole, and accusing him of wrong doing despite knowledge of what really happened is pretty low.
That's hardly, an example of our "shenanigans."
We have people walking into our camp, unannounced, all the time. We are a friendly bunch, and not only do we not mind, but we encourage it. As for what would happen if YOU, specifically, came into our camp. We would offer you a beer, if you didn't have one, we wouldn't be, particularly, friendly, but we wouldn't threaten you. If you were there to have fun, then we would warm up to you. If you were there to debate, I would be happy to lock horns with you. If you were there to insult us, we would be happy to trade them with you as well. You seem to carry a certain amount of baggage, as this thread has made obvious, so your appearance may not be as, immediately, welcomed as Spike's, for example, but regardless, we wouldn't threaten you.
If you were to enter our camp dorsai there wouldnt be any threats to make you leave. We would accept the fact that you are there (just like every other person who stops by allied or not), offer you a drink and a chair, and move on with our talks. We don't force people to leave our camp area because we dont really care whos in there. Of course if someone from the allied side showed up we wouldnt talk about some things but oh well. The GJs are an exceptionally friendly bunch and we welcome everyone with open arms and a cold beer (if they are of age of course).
Yes it is our home for a week but we still understand that its a camp and understand its for the publics use until someone crosses the threshold of someone elses tent or vehicle. The fact that Daniel was threatened by the CW should easily be talked about to the unit and inform them that their campsite does not get "special" benefits and the ability to turn away all individuals who walk through there. It's that simple and I dont understand why the CW considered it a problem in the first place. Daniel explained what he was doing so they should have let it be at that.
Also dorsai. when have you recieved that kind of a cold welcome from us at the campsite? and by whom for that matter? Also if you recieved a cold welcome why did you not bring it up to anyone seein as how thats what you are insisting that we should have done? Its a double edged sword here and all I see is you digging a hole for yourself. Thats my 2 cents on this matter for now.
