AGRO Paint

The search function nor Google seem to say much about agro paintballs. There is a guy in San Diego that sells this paint for cheap, but I am hesitant to buy it for fear that it will just break in my guns. I see empty agro boxes laying around at CP... so some people seem to be using it.

What's this paint like?
Does it work in LP and HP guns?

Thanks

Agro is made by APX. It is standard practice paint. It shoots decent when fresh. If you are using a rotor and are shooting agro, set the tension in the rotor low. It will shoot out of any marker.

It shoots pretty well, and can be found for very decent prices. It also stores really well, in my experience.

I've had mixed experiences with it. Sometimes far too brittle, sometimes far too bouncy...Varies batch by batch.

Definitely varies, shot some 3 weeks ago and for the first couple cases of the day it was good but the last 3-4 cases shot terrible when the humidity began to rise.

I'm pretty new to paintball and this has been the only paint I've shot. I've put about 5 cases through my Mini GS and its done pretty good so far. I plan on playing some rec ball this Saturday and am going to purchase better quality paint to compare it to.
The paint isn't too bad, I put around 3 cases of Agro through the stock GS barrel and had absolutely no problems. After purchasing a Deadlywind Fibur and .685 freak insert, I shot two boxes of Agro paint and chopped twice. I also tried dropping them from about shoulder height, I'm 5'7, onto concrete and they didn't break; they bounced instead.
More on my experiences with Agro paint after this weekend.

Like others, it's been hit or miss for me and my group when we get it. Sometimes it's great. Sometimes it's super tiny and falls straight through a .679 bore. Sometimes it's dimpled and sticky. Good luck!

Op, there are also two different types of Agro. The white box Agro is cheaper, but is a hit or miss. The black box Agro is more expensive, but much more consistent.

Shot a bag of white box aggro and a full case of premiums this past weekend. I used a .691 insert and there was a notable difference between the two. I've purchased Aggro's at $20 a case and for that price, it's awesome budget paint.

Paintball gateway will sometimes have a sale of $20 a case, but you have to buy a minimum of 5 cases.

Here in SoCal, Critical Paintball also has $20 deals for a case (every few months). There's no minimum amount required to purchase, but I ended up with four or five cases because it was a great deal.

I hate to necro an old thread, but I wanted to give my opinion of the Agro paint I bought.

I bought a case of white box Agro from the guy in San Diego. The shell was red and white with a blue fill. There were no broken or dimpled paintballs in my case. The paint was not perfectly round, but it also wasn't deformed. There was no sweating on the outside of the paintballs either. The paint does not break when conducting the "drop test" from 6-7'.

The paint did exactly what I wanted it to do... shoot out of guns without breaking on the bolt or in the barrel. I shot it out of old high pressure Angel LEDs, LCDs, and IR3's. I also shot it out of some shoebox shockers and low-end cockers. The paint's trajectory was pretty good... it didn't wobble or knuckle through the air like other low grade paint I've used. Shooting lanes off the break was good for practice, but the paint would definitely not break on a soft body. When the paint did break on hard parts (hoppers, guns, masks, etc.), there would be minimal paint marking.

In conclusion, I would definitely buy this paint again. It did exactly what I wanted it to do - shoot consistently out of guns without breaking. In regards to tournament play, this paint would put you at a disadvantage given its bounceability and small paint marking.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it great paint, but you can't beat true penny paint that shoots as well as 40$ cases.
