Ok, I got the slingshot as a gift, I used once when run out of paint everybody was ok, the ref just let me play until someone hit me but told me not to use it again (playing just for fun)

Absolutely not. A slingshot can propel a paintball ball much faster than 280-300 FPS and there is no way to ensure that you will only pull it back enough to get 280-300 every time.

Yes, slingshots can go much higher than 300 fps and there is no way to make it consistent.

I actually chrono'd a yellow band (surgical tubing) wrist rocket about a month ago with .68 paint (Valken Echo). I couldn't break 200fps I think the best I got was 197. If you can get one over 300 please post a video I wanna see that rig. You might get there with an off the shelf sling shot & .50cal paint. I've dropped birds in flight with a slingshot before so I wasn't holding it wrong or anything
Somebody asked to borrowed mine to play a game or two with it. I was reffing so I let them.

Do you know this from experience, or because you read it on the internet?
Like oldschool45, I have never gotten a slingshot to register over 200 fps on a chrono.

Very hard to get it over 200 fps. Have to pull it way back and most of the time i end up crushing the paintball.
Butto answer your question... No its not allowed. Not covered under the insurance policy and im pretty sure any field owner would not allow it if they knew you had one
Specifically because you cannot control the velocity and set it where you would consistently shoot the same or similar fps every time. I realize that it is highly unlikely that u will ever get it near 290 fps. But thats not the issue. The issue is that you cant consistently control the velocity

I use a slingshot as my back up all the time. Just make sure you ask a REF and other players if its okay with them.
As far as how fast it shoots, it depends on the size and weight of the propellant and what band you have. With my slingshot pulled back all the way with a basic 68 paintball i shoot 200-210fps. Still safe.
Then again don't argue about paintball speed of a slingshot, it all DEPENDS just CHRONO IT!
