Compared to other cards in this category (as compared by anandtech), this card easily wins when the price is adjusted.

From what little I've read, they are nearly identical to IPS.

For an old card reader that came with an old gateway desktop, it has a 4 pin+0 connector. Can I connect that like this to the newer 9 pin USB headers?
Like this picture.
EDIT: Pretty sure that worked, never tested it last night. holy hell that was a painful computer build.
I could never get the Windows Iso to work in my cousins computer, I had to go out last night but he told me he had to set it to RAID in the hard drive options in BIOS. Why the hell would you have to do that? The DVD drive was reused from a 5 year old desktop, and apparently it was no good, so that didn't help either.

For my build I chose a 660ti OC and it's handling games maxed out perfectly fine. If we would compare the two cards, I definitely think bang for the buck would be the 660TI and for a significantly lower price. I'd bet each card would hold it's own ~60FPS maxed out for any game. Might see lower minimum FPS rates with the 680 of course, but definitely don't think 200 extra dollars would justify it.

"Compared to cards in this category" doesn't include 660s.
I'm comparing other ~$500 cards.

I would have loved to run 2 cards, but I've got a lot to learn before I do that. Every reliable source of advice said go for the highest single card setup I can afford. The recent price drop on the lightning made it affordable. The unlocked voltage leaves me some headroom too. I'm running my card at 1435mhz gpu and about 7200mhz memory.

I've never spent 300 on a video card but mine is unlocked too. I have MSI unlocked version with twin frozer 2 I think. I'm afraid to overclock it and blow 300 lol. I don't understand why my mother board came with an SLI adapter that's maybe 1.5" long, but the PCI-E slots are like 4 inches apart. I'm hoping to SLI one day too. I like tinkering around with things but not dropping the cash on it haha

This is, by far, the most I've spent on a piece of tech (my whole computer) excluding TV's. I know how you feel.
MSI has, from what I can tell, a pretty good warranty. I'm being conservative compared to some of my fellow 680 lightning owners, but I feel I'm in a sweet spot. I'm really curious to see your heaven scores compared to mine.
Also, what are you folk's PCmark7 scores? I can't tell if mine is low or high or even if its correct.

I was originally looking at 560's but decided I'd probably end up regretting it. I'm probably not running anywhere close to your resolution so it'd be interesting to see what my 660ti does on an 1080p monitor. I'm running a pretty restrictive 1440x900 resolution on a 19-21" widescreen LCD. I'm downloading Heaven right now. I'll post up afterwards.

Cool. I'm running a 23" 1080p monitor, nothing too fancy. Make sure to max the specs on the start page.

I'm going to try and get a 23" 1080p with some birthday/Christmas cash. Along with a PSU and hard drive.

I honestly don't know what I'd do with 500gb lol. Right now I have a 120gb SSD and an 80gb hdd that CrystalDisk and Windows 7 is advising me that is eventually going to fail. I still have a good amount of space lol. Games will eat that space fast though. So I've checked this threaded here and there. Haven't you changed cards like 3-4 times on your build? lol

Here's the results:
Noticed my minimum FPS was the very first few milliseconds of the test when the scene loaded. Other than than my lowest FPS was 78-79 on stage 7 with the grass in front of the camera.

Yeah my usual minimum is like 65 and it's because of that first few feet.
I need to uninstall and reinstall heaven. It's crashing, but not because of the card. It says "textures removed..." and a bunch of other stuff. That's at stock speeds too, it just started doing in in the past couple days.
