This Asrock Extreme6 Z77 board seems to be very popular. I've never dealt with asrock, hence my thorough research.
Verizon FIOS is nice, if you're lucky enough to be in an area where they built the plant. Everyone else is SOL.

Proper FIOS connectivity:

Save your money, get the Extreme 4 or Pro 4. The Extreme 6 is more board than you're going to use. The Extreme 4 still support SLI with good power componets, the Pro 4 doesn't support SLI but is still a solid overclocking board.

See, the Pro 4 (maybe even the Pro 3) performs well.

The UEFI BIOS is nice on ASRock boards. Easy to use and laid out well.

Older OCZ drivers were not received well, however OCZ bought one of the controller technologies and put it into the Vertex 4 drive which has turn around their performance and reliability. If you dont go Intel or Samsung 830, go Vertex 4.

The 3570K is easy to get to 4Ghz, no voltage changes are needed. 4.5Ghz seems to be the sweet spot before pushing more heat and/or voltage for the 3570K's.

You should. Easy stuff overclocking an unlocked IB. It is just a multiplier change and maybe a little extra voltage. The hardest part is balancing the base voltage and boost voltage. Set the base voltage up first to find your stable clock, then once you know it is stable, go to an offset scheme lowering the base and bumping the boost under load.

I'm going to do a much better job of wiring this time. I'm hoping the modular PSU helps out
Only risk is pushing the voltage past 1.4v. By that time you're looking at the need of water cooling anyways.

Get the Extreme 4 versus the Extreme 6 and the Hyper 212 Evo is paid for on its own.

With the free ram, the extreme6 is almost the same price. I was goingto gget the ram anyway, so might as well get it for free with an Extreme6.

Edit: it looks like the Extreme4 comes with some free ram too. Why is that the better choice?

Newegg has the same offer on the Extreme 4, still saving you $55 versus the Extreme 6.

Edit: Worse yet the "free" ram is terrible. 1.65V and a CAS 9? I would spend the money on the Extreme 4 and some 1.5V CAS 7 Memory and have better performance.

Yeah I edited my last post as you were posting.

What makes the Extreme4 a better choice?

The price. You dont need the extra cooling on the Extreme 6 for a moderate overlock. If you were going to be going with a custom water loop and 1.4V on the 3570K, more chipset voltage, and pushing the memory harder than a default XMP profile, the Extreme 6 would support you better.

But because you're going to run less than 1.25V on air, stock voltage everywhere else, the board isn't going to be generating much heat to warrant the extra cooling. The Extreme 4 will perform the same as the Extreme 6 in benchmarks as well as what ever you could possibly use the system for; and you're not sacrificing the option for SLI later on.

Save the money on the Extreme 4, spend it on really nice ram which will have a positive influence on benchmarks. See the edit in my previous post if you didn't see it already.

I've already got 16gb of corsair ram that my folks gave me, and so that's not really an issue.

Eventually I plan on further OC, and I want to get the peripherals to support it now.

I wouldn't mind the 4, ill look into it.

Edit: This is the ram I have. My dad picked it out, and he said it was good bang for the buck. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820233299

This is my cart now:

i5-3570k ($215 at amazon)
Seagate Barracuda Green ST1500DL003 1.5TB ($79 at newegg)
Asrock Extreme4 Z77 ($134 at newegg)
Team Xtreem Dark Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) (free)
COOLER MASTER Silent Pro Hybrid RS-850-SPHA-D3 850W ($124 at newegg +$30MIR)
COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced ($159 at newegg + $20MIR)

Total: $665ish

I emailed some guy on craigslist to buy his GTX570 (so I could SLI mine). He told me he was selling his whole computer, and I asked the specs and price.

i7-3930k
ASUS Rampage IV Extreme 2011 X79
EVGA GTX570 classified
Rosewill Thor V2
Corsair 750w PSU

All for $600 + my Acer A500 tablet. Tempting, but I don't need a 3930k.

I'd be concerned about how hard the parts have been run and if they have been over clocked.

The guy seems pretty legit. He said he's only going to sell it after he gets to show me that everything functions properly. He also doesn't seem like he's trying too hard to get rid of it. Nice guy too.

My financial stuff cleared up quite a bit ahead of schedule. I wasn't going to hold on to last year's tech when I had the opportunity to save some money and upgrade.

Fair enough. I'm still pretty happy with my rig. Only thing I really want to do is buy a third monitor. When I'm working, I get so many windows going at once that I fill up 2 monitors really fast. Need atleast one monitor free for movies

I need to build a new computer. I will literally go insane if I don't take a break from my normal routine. It works out that I am selling mine and keeping my GPU
