Anyone here have a Newegg Business account and use it?

Do they do any good discounts for bulk? Like buying 10 low power PSU's or DVD drives or something.

$500-600, its intention is to be used to play BF3 on High graphics settings.

1tb hard drive would be nice because it seems to be only a little more expensive than 500gb. (Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm as big on computers as I am on paintball)

Anyways, I made a thread earlier about a laptop but it's likely to get stolen so I'll just write papers by hand and type them later, etc.

tl;dr - make me a gaming computer, full build, play bf3 on high settings
still tl;dr - I love you

Motherboard

CPU

PSU - I have no idea of the quality of this. It was cheap so I picked it.

GPU

Memory

Hard Drive

DVD-Burner

Case- It's what I have and I think the features you get and the better cable management is worth the extra $10 and less than steller looks compared to the Antec cases people seem to go for in budget gaming rigs.

Came out a little over budget at $639.92. That can be fixed if you can use your old case. You could also nix the DVD burner or use your old one. Also forgot about the operating system, so if you need that, you'll have to really play around with the parts to keep it under budget.

Anyway, that setup should play BF3 on high nicely.

Can't I just download BF3 off steam? No disks needed? If so, I don't really don't need CD compatibility.

Oh and all of those are compatible with each other, correct?

What are the major differences between an i5 and an i7?

Is your budget all the money you have or all that you would want to spend on a computer?

If it's the latter, get a DVD drive.

I didn't even look at what he had for a processor. I looked at the mobo wondering why he put a $120 mobo in a budget build.

I5 has 4 cores and 4 threads

I7 has 4 cores and 8 threads (Hyperthreading) This makes the OS think you have 8 cores.

You don't need I7 for games.

On the subject of processors, I've been having to do research for a new build since I've been out of the scene for a while. All hearsay that I've read says the i5-i7 are blowing the AMD counterparts out of the water for games. If the AMD Zambezi offers 8 cores (which I've read do not matter in gaming) and has a much significantly higher L2 cache (which I do not completely understand), why is everyone jumping on the intel wagon? Prices are significantly higher for specs that are lower than AMD processors.

Usually, intel CPUs are faster than their AMD counterparts. That's the long and short of it.

AMD's "8 core" CPUs don't actually have 8 complete cores (and their "quad core" bulldozer does not have 4 complete cores, either. Nor does their "six core."); rather, there are less FPUs than there are integer cores. The result is something that is only marginally more legitimate than calling an i7-2600k and "8 core" because of hyperthreading. If you want a real 8 core CPU, you have to buy either an older Phenom/Phenom II-based Opteron or a "16 core" Bulldozer-based Opteron. In the intel camp, there are a bunch of 8-core Xeons that also have hyperthreading.

You can't always compare specifications on processors that are based on different architectures. They can have the same specs and still perform completely differently. Your best bet is to look at real-world benchmarks.

But yes, Intel has the edge currently.

After all the reviews and comparisions I've pretty much put AMD out of my thoughts, just figured I'd try to educate myself on why they perform differently. Looking at a i5-3750k right now.

I would prefer to keep it in that price range. I could always add a DVD drive at a later time, no?

It essentially fools the operating system into thinking you have more cores than you actually do. It's not terribly effective but it does help on heavily-threaded workloads.

So an i5 is recommended.
What about an internal fan?

Guys I have a problem

Moved the OS to the SSD and now my computer is just not functioning. Can only have 1 tab open on Chrome, the mouse is constantly not working and the keyboard is typing the wrong keys. I defiantly did something wrong because everything's jacked up.

When I open another tab and click on it, the tab I click on closes, if I click the only tab that's open it shuts the entire browser.
