Sooo when I first asked about my new rig a few months back, you know about the 2700k... well some one gave me **** about it's pointless unless I have it past 5ghz.

For all the haters out there.

Best for the money CPU? No more than $70, it's for my grandfather, he doesn't need much. Don't care if Intel or AMD, unless that $15 1155 Mobo comes back on newegg. Video on CPU or mobo just has to be decent enough to go on Firefox and write angry letters to politicians and advice for his grandchildren.

I asked about a build for him a month or so ago, but recently some Patriot DDR3 got really, really cheap, so I guess I'm building now.

Anyone have experience with the Corsair SP2500 2.1 gaming audio system? The price looks pretty good through Amazon Prime... since it's free 2 day shipping. I'm mainly getting it for gaming and movies. I don't use my gaming rig for listening to music. I was going to get headphones for the same price... but now I'm thinking I should get a gaming speaker system instead.

It definitely looks like one of the better gaming sound systems out of the logitech and others. I'd still suggest getting studio monitors instead.

What I use. Old version of these but same thing essentially.

I also have a decent sound card, can't say for sure if that helps or not.

So you don't use a subwoofer? Those are pricey just for the pair alone.
For that price... I bet they sound awesome. I'll look into it more... I'm not in a rush for a system... but daddy's day money is burning a hole in my pocket... LOL... it was for headphones... but I had to look into a speaker system.

You really don't need one imo. You're only around 2 feet away from the speakers. The 2 5" woofers provide enough bass. I hardly use my A700 headphones anymore since I got these speakers.

That's true... when I game most of the time... I am not far from the speakers. The thing is, since my monitor is a 42" TV... so I do roll my desk chair out of the way to watch movies, and sometimes game when I use the XBox controller from the couch further away. Still considering it though... but Amazon doesn't have them. I like utilizing our Prime membership. Thanks for the suggestion.

So going with studio speakers is the way to go for gaming audio now.... instead of the space saving speakers with subs? I have some thinking to do now. $200 to $250 is what I am willing to spend on the gaming audio speaker system.

You could get the D1010s, those will take up less space. Same website should have them. If you feel the need to have more punch later on, you can add a Dayton sub. A Dayton powered sub with those speakers should sound fantastic.

Parts express has the smaller Daytons for $90.

Then you aren't listening to dubstep, you're listening to brostep. Wubstep isn't a thing.
