Brand new geo 3.5. Defective?

I just acquired a brand new orange and silver geo 3.5 from my local field. It fires fine and everything but the eyes, on the screen it does the symbol of their being a fault each time the first trigger pull happens when its first turned on. Replaced the eyes thinking it was them. Still does the faulty symbol and goes away after turning eyes off and on or gun and on but comes back after the first trigger pull each time. What's wrong with this thing? Thanks

So the frame is all the way forward but the rear of the frame still has nearly a whole inch before its flush with the body but the rest of the frame is flush and even, but the rear of the frame won't go flush, and looks uneven with the bolt even in? You can see a lot of the orange of the extra body under the bolt cap even. I wonder if this could be the fault it's detecting, the frame not lining up? I must have a true defective geo 3.5

Unbolt the frame, align it with the body and bolt it up. Ensure the eye wires aren't being pinched.....

I highly, highly doubt this is a marker issue....

I did that five times already trying again and again. What's your email bud I'll send you the pics of what I'm talking about?

And also the frame is perfectly lined up. It's the *** end of the frame that isn't being flush. And no wires are pinched I made damn sure of that. Theirs just a gap between the frame and the bolt cap on the *** end of the frame. And I got brand new eyes and it still detects a fault. No pinched wires. Red eye is on the right side.

Also if I pull the trigger multiple times the noid cycles then every so often it misses and doesn't cycle for two times in a row. Doesn't do its normal click. Does it every 5 pulls or so.

Also when I booted it up too after bolting it back up the screen said planet eclipse geo and a bunch of gibberish all over the place on the screen and flashed on too fast before I could read more but it hasn't done that again at all. This thing is acting all sorts of funky .... ? I'm not sure it's a user error as I haven't even put more than 100 shots through it yet. Doesn't leak at all just detects a fault and the *** end of the frame isn't flush while the rest of the frame is perfectly flush.

Check the trigger, could be just a little off, open the from so you can see the trigger engaging,

Did that already. And the trigger is at stock adjustments. It goes far enough to be sensed plus a little further. And far enough to trigger the macro switch and a little further.

I know it's silly but, first things first. Did you replace the battery for a new Duracell or Energizer?

Two brand new Duracell 9 volts. Same problem persists with both of them.

Is the bolt sitting in the forward position?

Gas up the gun and see if it still does it

Hi,

You posted in the middle of the night, lol

So I take it that what you were doing was trying this with the gun de-gassed?

When the gun is de-gassed the bolt slides forward and blocks the eyes and yes, you will get an eye default message every time.

Glad the Oldmanian got you sorted out before it drove you mad

By the way, the gibberish you saw on the screen that one time will have been the firmware information. If you press and hold the button just as it starts to power up it will display the firware revision and marger type etc

Jack

Perfect thank you Jack. And yeah I was doing it without the bolt in the gun and concluded that what I was doing wrong was when I tested the new eyes I kept my finger in the breech blocking the eyes after the trigger pull and it thought there was a fault because my finger was still their.

Yes, the eye logic is not straighforward. For the eyes to see a "true" cycle and call it valid it has to see a ball in the breech, then the gun fire, then a gap in the breech as the bolt retracts, and then a ball in the breech again.

If it doesn't see the gap between the first ball being fired and the second ball arriving in the breech from the loader, it flags it as a "fault" shot and the eyes default and go to the square eye brackets.

See that's all new to me coming from an ego 7 where it didn't have that software. Also one question while your not busy. Why does the solenoid miss a cycle every 5 shots even in psp mode or nppl ramping or capped semi or uncapped semi when in opto mode but on switch it doesn't? I have cleaned the opto eyes and I have adjusted the trigger so it moves accordingly to be seen perfectly fine by the opto eyes on the board thinking the stock trigger adjustments may have been a little out of place

This issue still vexes me. When you say miss a cycle, what exactly do you mean? It just doesn't register or it does but doesn't fully cycle and does it only happen during rapid firing or will it do it if you just pull, say once or twice per second?

It sounds like the TT filtering on the opto trigger is kicking in and cancelling a shot.

Lowering the debounce settings on opto will widen the "valid trigger pull" window and accept more trigger pulls as valid.

Personally I'd just stick it in micro and forget about it.

And the Ego7 had exactly the same eye logic as the Geo. In fact we have had the same eye logic for detecting valid shots since Ego5.

Right. Back to my vacation

Jack
