CS1 won't turn on

Hi all-

Was playing with my CS1 a few weekends ago and turned the gun off for lunch break and went to turn it back on an hour or so later and it wouldn't turn on. Before everyone asks, yes, I did try new batteries.

Not sure if this may be related, but it was a "wet" day out, slightly misty but nothing that made me concerned. I took the grips off and thought maybe if I let the gun air out for a while it will turn on and it's been 3 weeks and no luck.

Any ideas what might be going on? My backup CS1 worked fine though

-Dave

From top to bottom, check:
Battery Polarity (make sure they are in the right way)
Connector to the board from the batteries is inserted correctly
Separate the body, unplug the power to the board, and remove the foregrip. From there you should be able to see the small board on the top of the grip. That is where I broke a connection.
Do a good-test-good on your batteries. Take new batteries put them in the good CS1. Turn it on. Take them out and put them in the questionable CS1. Leave them in there for an hour or two. Put them back in the good CS1. If the battery is dead or discharged more than expected this can let you know if you have a connection/board issue shorting the power that you can't see.

Deus003-

Thanks for the helpful response. The following has been checked already:

Battery Polarity: Check
Connector: Check
Small board connection above batteries: check

Interesting idea with the good-test-good technique you mentioned. Will give that a shot tonight and report back.

Thanks for the help

The other thing I have overlooked in the past is if the board shifted to the point where the buttons on the back of the frame can not activate their corresponding buttons on the board, obviously nothing will happen. Make sure your board did not shift on you.

Big Papa Pink-

Good thought. I will double check that but I can feel the "click" when i push the button. I have tried pushing the button's with the grips off and no luck but I will make sure the board hasn't shifted on me.

Thanks for the help!

Update

Took the gun apart, unplugged all the wires, changed batteries, checked all wires etc.

Put gun back together and still wouldn't turn on. kept pushing the "on" button and got nothing. Then I decided to push the "on" button with a lot of force and the gun did turn on. However, once the gun was on it wouldn't turn off. The top and bottom button would work just fine, but the middle button would not register. After clicking the on/off button a million times I finally got it to turn off. It seems like the button is working intermittently.

My question: Is this something that is an easy fix? or most likely internal within the board and it needs replacement.

Note: I was turning the gun on and off directly from the board (red button) and not through the back grip.

Hi Dave,

This may sound stupid, but are you sure that the Double-Click feature hasn't been disabled? Have a look in the manual and you will see you can set the board to power up and down with either a long hold of the power button, or a double click action.

We find that, particularly snake players, like to set up the board with a long push and hold to power on and off to prevent accidental power off during a dive.

Hi Jack,

The double click feature has not been disabled and I have tried turning it on by holding down the power button as well as double-clicking and neither yield much success.

Jack, is this something that can be fixed at World Cup? Or would it be faster to send to Eclipse?

Ok, definitely sounds like a faulty push-button.

No need to wait until Cup. We'll get this sorted out for you ASAP.

Send me a DM with your email in it and I'll get it taken care of for you.

Just wanted to post up and say that the board came in Saturday and the gun was good to go! PE continues to go above and beyond for their customers and I can't thank Jack and the team at PE enough.

Glad you got it in time for your event.

But I always say it, and I always mean it: Sorry you had a problem to start with. I'd be a much happier and less stressed person if stuff just worked perfectly all the time, every time. And I'm sure you guys would be even happier too that way.
