I believe the standard EZ bar is supposed to be in the ballpark of 10kg. I don't remember if it's an exact 22lbs or if there's a little more or less I'm forgetting about.

LEMUR 2.0
Day 4:chest
Thoughts: Pre activated with 185 on flat BB, I haven't done flat barbell bench since I started lifting and felt pretty weak on it. Couldn't use a smith machine because some fat chick was doing these stupid exercise ball things in it so I just did incline barbell. The cable crossovers gave me the sickest chest pump I have never done 5 sets of 20 reps before feltgoodman.jpg
Can anyone explain to me how the myoreps work a little bit better?

It is what it is
|
Incline BB: 205 4x5, 10 or 11
HS flat press: 72.5s 2x10, 13
Pec deck: 185 2x12, 15
HS dips: 335* 4x5, 13
EZ curls: 110x14
Lurker ext: 70 2x10, 18
Reverse curls: 80 12, 16 Tried pinwheels, but they were awkward with the gyms bulky DBs.
Skip ext: 70 15, 21
Preacher curls: 90 15, 17
Had the gym assistant spot me on incline again. I told him not to grab the bar till after I get stuck. He says "You don't want any assistance, alright". Then after I start slowing down toward the end of the set, he says "time to get those additional reps"
I feel like I'm plateauing already, I think it may be time for me to take a break from 5x5.
I might try a pyramid scheme, not sure If i should start it immediately or finish riding out the 5x5 though.
Getting frustrated

Basically you do your first hard set for like 6, then during a ~20 second rest period, strip off some weight and do 3-7 depending on how much you took off
Then repeat the stripping of weights, and these mini sets getting gradually lighter until you're at like 20-30 total reps. generally 5 or 6 mini sets is how i end up. You should be toasted after.

Pump - When you say "EZ Curls" and then "Preacher Curls", I'm guessing the EZ ones are just standing, correct?

Yep, and both are done with EZ-bars.

I use wide grip for standing curls, then close grip for preacher curls.

For any curls involving a bar, whether standing or seated, I always go with this.

How close is close-grip? I think the closest I go is the shoulder-width mentioned above.
However, wide-grip cable curls are awesome. With the wide bendy attachment that kind of looks like it's trying to imitate an EZ bar. Saw a training video Dante had helped make a while ago for DC that used this exercise in the blast, and they're awesome. With a wide grip on a cable, you kind of get that feeling that you're pulling the weight from the side even though it's just up and towards you, as usual. Hard to explain...it almost feels like you're working another part of your bicep, but in reality it's just hitting it from a slightly different angle. Definitely check them out.

Aren't those just close-grip chins? lol. I actually added that to a blast I did last year. I'm gonna be honest...my back got a much better workout, even with all my focus on my bis. Which is funny, because a lot of times when I do standard pullups my bis fail before my back, so I feel as though my bis wind up with a better workout on pullups. Interdasting...

You can't tell me you didn't instantly think of Lurker when you heard "mountains of muscle."
Tennis is the only sport I've ever played competitively. Would love to give the answer of "tennis" to that question lol.

Yohimbine?
Anyway, no gym, but I did do a quick extra workout. Few sets of barbell curls, bunch of band-pull aparts, bodyweight squats, and some sprints. Nothing difficult, just enough to help speed up recovery. Will probably try running a couple miles this weekend.
