Paint stripper for masks.
Hey guys got a few questions for ya;
But first a little background on what im doing;
I bought a used pair of Sly Profits. They are the blue ones. Well the blue is falling off in places and when I scrub the dry paint off it pulls the blue off with it. So basically I want to take off all the blue and then ill re-do them in another color (blue isn't my favorite, the mask was just really cheap).
Here are the actual questions:
1. Is there any paint stripper that would work better for taking the paint off a mask? .. I mean the actual mask paint and not paintball paint.. Lol
2. Is there any type of paint that will come out with a chrome look?
3. If there isn't a paint for it then would it be possible to use a extremely light weight metal and chrome it and fasten it onto the mask? Yes it's gonna add some weight to the mask, I'm hoping for the lightest metal possible I guess? I might be going crazy! (adding metal to a mask!!)
I think that the mask would look amazing if it was black and chrome, but I'm just throwing it out there to see any ideas on how to do it. Any help is appreciated!
Thanks

not sure what it might do to plastic but paint thinner would take the paint off most likely.
look at walmart or home depot or menards for spray paint for plastics that are in chrome colors... hope it all works out

Is there a certain type/brand of paint thinner? I don't want any of the black to get damaged.
I'll look an see if I can find a chrome paint. I was just asking because I want it to look as much like real chrome as possible.

Home depot has a spray paint remover that's safe for plastics. And you can just use silver spray paint.

Ill check out the spray paint remover..
I don't want it to be silver, I want that reflective shine that chrome has. Like on cars and bikes.

oddly enough, check with any local automotive custom shop, or maybe a Discovery chat room. I saw an episode of Fast & Loud on Discovery where they found a vendor that did chrome skins, and they used those to "chrome" a '78 Fairmont. Seems fairly easy to get a sheet, cut to size and stick it on.
I just found a website, www.decalfx.com, that sells something similar to what I'm talking about...may not be the cheapest thing in the world, but would be one of a kind.

Word of advice don't paint the nose area behind the lens a reflective color you will get a nasty reflection.

Yeah I had seen something about that before, I'm gonna paint the inside black and the outside (what everyone sees) the chrome color.. Maybe reflection will blind my opponent

There was a factory color that is exactly what your talking about.
Black w/ Chromish paint.
Might be cheaper to snag one of them.

Those are pretty sweet but I already have the mask. Ill post a pic of what it looks like now before any work has been done to it. When you see it you'll understand why I'm gonna just re paint the one I have.
