American RWD Performance Car Discussion Thread
This thread is to create a more active thread by combining the fox body thread, F-body thread, and also allowing for members with other cars such as GTO, Charger, Challenger, Corvettes, and classic Muscle cars a place to post too.
Ask questions about these cars here, show other members what you are doing with yours, and pitch ideas back and forth about future mods to your cars.
Simple rules don't ****ing argue over stupid **** such as trying to get arguments started between which is better ford or gm.
Some people like ford some like GM some like Chrysler, personally I like all three. You don't? Well that’s too damn bad you’re missing out.

I know a guy who ran a vortech for a couple years somewhere way up north. He ended up selling the car for an AWD Charger, but he had no problems while he was up there. To give you an idea, here's a pic from one of his threads. The track he runs at is in the foreground, Skyrim is in the background.

To piggyback off of his response, do you know their justification for that claim, greaseball? My assumption would be the lubricating oil and the cold temperatures but I highly doubt they run anything so thick it wouldn't be fine with normal warmup before you get into the throttle.

wouldn't the blower run better in the cold?

It seems because the tolerances are so tight on the Vortech units that when cooled down the gaps increase and can cause the bearings to fail.

yeah i read that the blower had really tight clearances and that the their oil didnt really get along with anything below freezing.

How much horsepower do you think i could make with ported gt40 heads, trickflow stage 1 cam, (not sure about intake, possibly gt40 or may just keep stock), headers, performance chip, and k&n air filter?

Don't worry about horsepower with that little bit. Just have fun with the car, you'd notice a bigger difference just putting in 3:73s or 4:10s.
FWIW I paid 250 for my street heat intake with spacer, 100 for my 1.7 rockers, what ever summit charges for a TFS stage 2 cam, 900 for the heads and 400 in machine work.

I'd like to weight in. I'm a GM tech and love rwd prformance cars. I own an 05 gto and it is AWSOME. I have workd on vettes, cts-vs, camaros and other muscle cars. You could say speed is kinda a passion of mine. I gotta say they all kick *** but, the ZR-1 is the best.
