I think the Crossover has confused the Tippmann users.

Well, it is shipping. My shop will get the first one friday. The crossover is coming and I have never seen a Tippmann release with as little fanfare as the Tippmann Crossover. This is very interesting...on one hand I think the hardcore milsim guys (like me) are not sure if they will be getting it, and the speedball guys are curious but can't decide if it would be cool to own a Tippmann. (Fact is speedball guns are 50% cool factor, 50% performance.) Has Tippmann isolated it's core consumers and tried half heartedly to enter the speedball realm? This marker may be a launching point into making purely speedball gear. I'm not sure what the long term marketing plan is on this one. I have viewed the videos and looked very closely at the internals. Its a phenom with more electronics and a different body. But if that's the case does this mean that the future of the phenom line will have eyes with a cyclone? I'm a Tippmann guy and won't be able to resist getting this one and I am not really sure why. I guess because I have bought one of everything since the 98 and Tippmann hasn't let me down yet. I just wonder where they are taking me.

Since I am rambling....I try to think about going to my gearbag and what marker I will pull out for what situation. When things get thick in the woods I pull out my Ape board Phenom with a flatline. Perfect for putting the hammer down and single shot long distance. When I want accuracy I take out the flatline and add a lapco barrel. Capture the flag I use my FX Fusion. When the rules say no full auto I pull out my camo etek 3. My backups include my green mini and A5. So, what would I use the Crossover for? What is it's niche? Guess I will find out. What does everyone else think?

I'd use the Crossover for frickin' everything! I have an A5 and numerous mechanical and electronic tournament-styled markers that I pull out for speedball or a change-up for woodsball, however with the Crossover, I'd have one gun with every capability of my other guns. I really don't care about the "coolness factor"...okay, maybe I do, but I think the Crossover is pretty cool, and I'm behind Tippmann 100%. I think it's suited to anything, and although it may not be the flashiest gun, it gets done what you need done.
Like you, if I need something for sneaking around and taking single shots, I'll put the 16" Stiffi and Ricochet on my A5. If I need something a little more powerful, I'll bust out the E-99 Avant or Viewloader Maxis EG. If I want to be awesome, I'll play with a mechanical Spyder or Viewloader. To mix things up more, I'll pull out the crappy Wal-Mart ER-2 pump. I think the Crossover could fit about anything here. I could use it for one-ball sniper shots, I could use it as a squad support weapon, or I could use it as a speedball gun.
I think it is rather confusing for the speedball market, though. Walking onto the speedball field with a Tippmann is the equivalent of bringing a knife to a gunfight, if only in an attitude sense...

The crossover has a bunch of confusion as of right now. A lot of hardcore tippmann fans aren't big tourney electro style guns, they think they're "unreliable" so that's an issue with hardcore tippmann fans they're afraid of how it may turn out, but being tippmann I'm sure it'll be a nice gun, I don't think they'll release a gun with a billion problems, and the speedball fans look more at it as a woodsball gun due to tippmanns lines, basically people see tippmann as a woodsball brand and they have been a woodsball brand for around 20 years, its hard for people to adapt to changes like that. When most people get a vision about a company it has a tendency to not change.

Anyone have a good shooting video of it? Im unsure if the trigger is any good on it, I havent seen any good players have a straight semi shooting vid that keeps a good stream going.

I find it funny the crossover came out when it did. Ive played with my A5 for years, modded here modded there, ive done basically everything to it. I play on a woodsball field only and i loved it when speedballers show up with their fancy, shiney space guns and then spend half the day trying to get their guns to work. When i make the trip out to play paintball thats the last thing i want to worry about.

Now that being said, when those speedballers were playing, i learnt alot more about the game of paintball as they would make ridiculous tight shots through holes in bunkers and were very hard to hit as they were always able to be so much tighter against bunkers then most bush ballers with stocks on their guns. This interested me so i was considering spending some cash on a space gun. Now that the crossover is out, i hope to compete with the speedballers that show up and make those tight shots i couldn't before with my bushball gun.

I've been using the crossover for a while now. I believe my serial is 000148.

You won't be disappointed. It's the Phenom reliability in a small frame.

If you buy one, use it before you mess with it. I've modded a lot of Tippmanns, but this is fine right out of the box.

Anyone know how the crossover feels (kickback) compared to an Etek?

I'll have my review with pics and Vids soon.
The trigger has a REAL NICE FEEL! NO side to side slop, Nice smooth feel.
Yes it's a little stiff as it is now but walkable in FA mode. The fix is SIMPLE.... TAKE THE SPRING OUT!!! Man once you do it RIPS!!!!!

Very nice dooku, but I wanna see a semi pro or professional speedballer who can really rip on it; it looked like your fingers were moving faster than it was shooting. But idk if that was the cam, or if you werent fully releasing the trigger because you removed the return spring....

What are you saying.... That I'm Not a PRO?!?!?! ..... yeah... I think you're right on there.
That is a BAD camera and I was shooting over the railing on the deck so it was kind of awkward. I was only trying to show that semi is easy to walk especially with the spring out. Taking that out make the trigger SO smooth!!
If anything my FAT Slow Fingers were making it look as if it wasn't full being released. Without the spring it's still very snappy.

Anybody play in electronic mode and not just use the FA? I'd like to know how easy the electronic settings are to change.

Hey Jay...
I never use the FA mode, I LOVE the PSP and Millenium modes.

I LOVE that tippmann has added PSP and Millenium modes. You can also adjust them some more as well. The crossover board is MUCH better than any other stock board tippmann has put out for being able to adjust things.
It's all done using the trigger and using the program button on the grip frame that also when pressed in you can turn off the eyes.

Some think the programming on the board is tough to use, but I really don't find it that hard to use. If you want I could explain more.

Yes the program button is on the back of the grip frame right below the 3 LED lights.
Top LED light is for Eye on and off.
Middle is for what Mode of Fire you are in.
Bottom is your battery power.

Then the little crossover icon looking thing is actually program function button.

Perhaps I'll do a short video showing how easy it is to use the Crossover menus.
I'm actually running Millenium mode capped at 12.5. I like being able to shot slow with out it ramping. When I need more fire power just hit the 7.5 bps and it'll get me up to the 12.5. Millenium mode is preset at 15, but I thought most places around me for tournaments are doing 12.5 so I'll leave it at that, not to mention save me a little paint.

Being an avid speedballer, I would really like to get a crossover, not to replace my G6R or Axe, but just to see what it is like. Not to mention the reliability of Tippmann guns. The only issue is the lack of money, so the only way I'm going to be getting one is if it comes up in a trade of some sort or really cheap.
