What is the best way to play a 3 man team? Position wise? Right now we are running a triangle deal with a point man and two mid players at the base of the triangle. Are there any suggestions otherwise?

a good setup is to have 2 guys in the front and 1 in the back as a look out. this work real well.

What we do in 3 man usually is...

If you have one VERY VERY fast guy that can get small and low quick, send him front to the 50, and two back men, one on each side. Both back players off the start are streaming at the other players. One keeps paint on the back man, one on the runners. The person running on your team, JUST RUN! don't worry about shooting, no one will shoot you on the run unless they get a lucky shot off while running. Their back man will be covered by yours.

If you have two fast players, do two front players, one on each tape. Then one center back man, center back man streams at the runners, two tape players just run!

Okay, now, do you play aggressive or defensive? Well, that depends who you are playing, if you can, never stay too defensive, and only used CONTROLLED aggression. Don't push your limits too far, and leave one player overextended and useless.

Remember, decoys work! Sending a center man to the 50 off the break draws ALOT of attention! Same with sending one down one tape line. Trust me, it works. The opposing team takes their attention to the player doing the decoy move, then you push the one side, and leave one back man that moves up the field yardage slowly.

Back Players: YOU NEVER STOP COMMUNICATING! You always keep talking, off the break, you job is to tell your front players who is where. Divide up the field, A B C as the 3 sections going from front to back of the field, then 1 2 3 being the sections from left to right. If a player is in the back right, it is C3. Understand? Good Know your terminology, use elimination calls, like E1 Left(meaning 1 elimination coming from the left side of the field).

Front players: When running, RUN! Keep your head up, look where your opposition is running, and BOOK IT to your cover! No need to shoot until you are AT YOUR COVER!

If time runs low and NOTHING is happening, send your center man to the flag! If you have 15 seconds left, you might as well try and get the flag pull points!

If your up by a man or two, RUSH THE OPPOSING PLAYER! Odds are you will shoot him, and he MIGHT shoot you, but you will have your other one or two players to hang the flag!

At the end of the game when hanging the flag after eliminating all players. If you have another player on the field, get him to run along side of you, let him check you for hits. If you are hit, call yourself out, then hand the flag off. Do this BEFORE you reach the flag station!

WALK THE FIELDS! Pick your starting runs, pick your second bunkers, look at where fire can and will come from, and where you can shoot from, remember, bunkers do have holes and or cracks in them sometimes. Use them to your advantage, especially the back man, you need to be ON THE BALL! Need to look for those EASY eliminations, the feet hanging out, hopper, pod, barrels, anything. If you can see it, SHOOT IT!

Anything else? Remember, first games can be a drag, sometimes you need to warm up. And remember, stretch! Pulling a muscle is not cool, and not fun. AT LEAST a week before make sure your equipment is WORKING! Don't tinker with it trying to tweak it. The reason I say a week before, is so if it MUST be repaired, it can be sent off or dropped off and fixed and back in time. Once it is fixed, put it in it's case, and LEAVE IT ALONE!

Always bring extra money. Always bring drinks and food, eat light though. Never eat a heavy breakfast. Tea with honey and lemon is a good drink, especially for the back players, soothes the throat. Bring it piping hot, in a nice thermos.

Hope that helps, and if you need anymore info, just ask on here!

Have one guy on each tape, and then a guy that floats around in the back providing cover for the other two players. Or have one guy go up the middle and two guys in the back corners.

few more questions

how long do 3 man games usually last? what if you break a ball do you squegeeor shoot through it? how does a paintcheck work? do you call a ref to check you or someone on the other team? when you reload do you just let your tubes go on the ground? how much paint do you usualy shoot in a 3-man tourny (front and back) about 2 cases? how much do ntry fees cost for a novice/rookie tournament(3 man)? what are some things to expect?

P.S. im hopeing to get my team into our first tournament this summer.

I have my first tourney tomorrow (3-man). It's games are 5 minutes. Paintchecks work by calling a ref over to you. (while you continue to play, if it is an unobviouse hit). Just throw your pods on the ground. As far as how much paint. We are buying 3 cases to start. (6 games in prelims). Entry fee all depends on the tourney.
