Come to think of things now. I did spend 1/2 hour at the bench.

I had to take the Halo a part to clean it because the paint shot up into it and messed up the loader eyes.

The problem running a squeegee through the Etha, the eyes may not get cleaned properly. I didn't want to get sand into the back of the gun so I took extra care since this gun is a week old.
From your desciption it sounds like the paint was breaking in the loader or in the stack before it was getting into the gun. It must have been some really bad paint.

Regarding speed to clean, then the breech, eyes and detents are exactly the same on the Etek and Etha, so how your friend cleaned his breech would have worked equally well for you.

Of course cleaning the bolt itself will always take a little longer on the Etha because you have to unscrew it and clean the bolt and the spring and then screw it back in. There is certainly no need to break the valve assembly at all to clean up after a breech break though.

It was bad paint.

The broken paint got all over the bolt and spring and when I pulled the bolt out, the paint got spread all over the insides making it awkward cleaning because of the depth I had to reach. I did not take a part the valve assembly. Just cleaned the bolt and spring.

I may just pick up a Etek4 as well for the cleaning ease after this experience. Although the bolt is exposed to the elements, it is also easier to clean in the event of broken paint.

Stick with your Etha just buy 10$ better paint! Better than investing in a new 500-600 dollar gun for sure.

Yes, the Etha is a keeper.

PE quality is good, so good reason to get a Etek4 as well.
