Etha and brittle paint

So I researched about the composite parts and got that rumor under wraps....now we need to look at the other big rumor about this gun. It can't handle brittle / tourney grade paint. I have read that people shoot cases of ultra evil through it no prob, have read a few people have problems with there gun breaking paint but it could have been anything.

What I wanna see compiled here is the guns performance with brittle paint and what type of paint you guys are shooting and how its doing.

Hopefully this can be a reliable source of actual Intel and not rumors easily found while researching the gun up here before purchasing it.

Thanks for any input!

Shot a case of brittle paint and I didn't have any breaks in the gun.. But I broke 2 in the barrel but that was with factory barrel (which was huge for the paint I was shooting)

I played in SEPS #3 last weekend and shot evil the whole time. Probably shot 2 and 1/2 cases and not a single break.

Have used GI sportz 1 star in 4 celsius , Valken infinity (orange fill) at 25 degress , Xball inferno (pink/white shell) with no issues. I did break 3 balls in case in april on a cold rainy sunday using inferno (I think) but i also saw 2 DP markers go blender using redemption. every ball that day was dimpled

I've shot graffiti, infinity, all stars, marbalizer, and premium with no problems. Each one with about a case or 2 each with a .683 back Sly barrel kit.

I have shot about 2 cases of evil and 4 cases of allstar through mine and no breaks in the marker..a few breaks i have had were in the barrel from over heat..couldnt keep the paint cool enough so that was from paint to bore match up nothing from the marker..in fact i just shot 1 month old evil through it yesterday to make sure everything was working properly for my next tourney and all it did was shoot ropes..

We had an etha as a backup gun at psp phx.

Not only did it do just fine with UltraEvil, one of the highest end tournament grade paints... it did it in 100deg temps.

The gun has some odd vibrations with its shot, but it does 12bps ramp with the best of them and didn't break paint.

Put a case of all-star through mine yesterday and had no problems at all.

I'd say it is gentle on paint. Haven't had any issues with any paint I've shot.

I shot GI Sportz 4 Stars with it no problem at all. I could also tell that the bag of 4 Stars I received was a bit old since it was oily and some of them had like pimples coming out of them. Either way, the team I played with had them cleaned and removed the bad one's and it shot perfectly through my Etha.

I'm guessing the people that have had problems don't pay attention to their paint quality and bore size they're using on their barrels.

Over the weekend broke some bad paint in the Etha breech and what a mess.
Had to take the bolt assembly and do a complete cleaning. Not fun.

My friend had an Etek3 which also had this same paint break in his breech as well.

He was back on the field in 5 minutes with a quick cleaning. I was stuck at the bench for 1/2 hour cleaning the bolt, relube and eye cleaning.

Looks like I may just consider going to an Etek4 after this experience. At least I can use the cure bolt for fragile paint.

If lubing and cleaning a Etha took you 1/2 hour your doing it wrong..

At home it would have taken minutes, but the outdoor bench was dirty and lots of sand all over it and it was windy. Had to be careful with the bolt taken a part. The parts were on paper towels but the wind made it more difficult. It would probably took 15min for the bolt and eyes, but it felt longer.

The Etek is still faster to clean up after a break.

when i had a break in the breach all i did was unscrew the bolt and pass the soft barrel squigee thru it and full dry the rubber tip and then dry the hopper. Shot fine after that. Obviously your friend didnt go through all the steps you did before he got back on the field

My friend use a rag wrapped around his finger and stuck it down the feed neck, front and back of the gun. His loader was a Rotor which took a minute to clean.

Come to think of things now. I did spend 1/2 hour at the bench.

I had to take the Halo a part to clean it because the paint shot up into it and messed up the loader eyes.

The problem running a squeegee through the Etha, the eyes may not get cleaned properly. I didn't want to get sand into the back of the gun so I took extra care since this gun is a week old.
