feedneck options?
hey all, got a few more questions for some of you to ponder. my feedneck is a 1/4" too tall in the clamping portion, which got me to thinking seriously about replacing it.......
first, i already know that aftermarket quest feednecks aren't really available. i also know that this is because the quest wasn't popular enough to warrant large runs, and the proprietary threading for the feedneck itself.
with that in mind, has anyone tried modding other feednecks to fit? what is the closest fit?
any productive thoughts appreciated, including any posts saying 'you can find them here still....'

I'm not aware of any other marker's feed necks that you could use.
That leaves only one Quest specific aftermarket feed neck which is the one from Critical Paintball.
The Critical feed neck is shorter, but most of that height has been lost from the cup area being trimmed down from the top. So depending on the length of the loader's neck, you may just find that the loader sticks up above the feed neck.
However, if you are willing to trim the neck of your loader so that the body of the loader sits right on top of the feed neck, your loader will end up lower.

the only problem with this suggestion is where to find one. i didn't see any on critical's site, and that's the first place i checked.
my issue is that the loader feedneck is shorter than the gun feedneck. easily solved by using a different loader, but that is beside the point.

Yep, having checked the site, it would appear that the Critical feed neck is no longer listed. Shame, as with your loader neck already being shorter than the stock feed neck cup, it sounds like it would have been perfect for you.

The OP is looking for a lower profile feed neck, so while adding a lever clamp rather than a screw clamp is a nice option, leaving him with the stock neck doesn't actually meet the requirement for a lower feed neck.

I feel your pain with the rotor. My halo has no issues with that feedneck gap but the rotor leaves a huge exposed area.
I kinda ghetto it up though using some tape around the top of the feedneck just to cover the holes. I had an instance where part of a paintball shell got in and into my breech so I rather tape it than deal with that again.

Im working on a quego project (ego frame on a quest) right now and I have a guy at work who has told me it should not be a problem to cut the threads off of a random feedneck, and re-thread with FEP threads. Im going to do it to a trinity DM feedneck, Ill let you know if it works out ok.
and I know what you mean, i brought it up before. The stock feedneck + Rotor = no bueno.

If it works well find out what he'd charge for more of that. Wouldn't mind lowering my 06's neck a tad...

Keep in mind I'm using an entirely different feedneck. The quest stock one really doesn't have much material to lose.

Ok, well it's almost done, but of course I forgot to take a picture. We need to make one final cut probably next week, but it looks pretty good. This thing is a true no-rise, even before this last mod it already sits way lower then the stock neck.
