hey nation so i took my luxe accents to get anodized but they said they could not anodize them because they were mixed metal... is it that some luxes can be anodized ? or do they just not know what they are talking about ?

never heard of that either, i actually just reached out to a guy here "matoca" i believe, said the ONLY problem would be the clamp lever. because of it's pin, it would somehow cause a problem. other than that. all of the other parts could have been done. i just didnt do it because im anal and would bug the sh*t out of me that my clamp wasnt the same color as the other accents

Surf tech in port moody they do really good work and it was only 30 bucks for all my parts

Luxe parts can be anodized. You just have to "prep" them by sealing the magnets and taking out the pin on the feedneck lever. The magnets on the eyecovers are too hard to take out so seal em with some silicone.

The pin on the feedneck needs to be punched out. You'll notice that there is only one hole on one side...so that means you have to drill the other side. Have fun!

Do you also have to take out the ss screws from the body when anodizing? Specifically the 2 in the front of the body and the one plug in the bottom of the body? I ask because my front screws are red loctited and the one I tried will strip out before loosening.

What would happen if you left them in though? The ss screws wouldn't anodize right? Would it be a problem?

The acid bath would eat them up, they'd contaminate the tank and the anodizer would have to clean out the entire tank.

I actually forgot to take out the front body screws on one Luxe and it came back perfect.

Get yourself a cheap heat gun and heat up the body and you'll be able to remove those body screws (take out your eyes and any electronics, etc before you heat up the body)

Yeah take everything out of the gun if your gonna boil it or heat it up with a torch or heat gun. Those crack pipe torch butane lighters work good

Do you do annodizing though your shop? Wondering if I can get somebody else to mask the magnets and punch out the feedneck lever ring pin

I'm sure I can drill a small hole and punch the pin, but no promise it'll look clean.
